Once again, the Gibson Custom Shop & Epiphone have teamed up to create the “Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird I”. This guitar is an authentic replica of the guitar designed by the legendary automotive designer Ray Dietrich.

History of the Firebird

When the Firebird was first launched in 1963, the guitar was Gibson’s first neck-through-body model. Due to its popularity, the guitar was used my music legends in a variety of different musical genres which include Eric Clapton, Kieth Richards and blues legend Johnny Winter to name a few.

Classic Construction with Modern Improvements

The neck is made with a 9-ply neck-through-body made of Mahogany & Walnut with Mahogany body wings each side. The 9-ply neck provides exceptional tuning stability due to the layers of wood reinforcing eachother.

The Kluson planetary geared “Banjo” tuners anchor the strings at the headstock and for the bridge, a wraparound lightning bar holds things down and ensures that you get exceptional sustain.
