History of Martin Guitars

A Martin isn’t just a guitar. It’s playable history; part of a long line of legendary instruments stretching back to the company’s beginnings in 1833. Our guitars were strummed by Civil War soldiers around campfires, helped shape the sound of modern music at the turn of the 20th century, and were played by music’s first superstars like Jimmie Rodgers and Gene Autry. Decades later, Martins floored the crowd at Woodstock, then took center stage on MTV Unplugged, and can be heard on countless classic and contemporary songs across all genres of music. John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash, Shawn Mendes, Rich Robdinson, Jason Isabell, Hank Williams, Elvis Presly Bob Dylan, David Crosby, Neil Young, Dave Gilmour, John Martyn, John Lennon are some of the name that have played Martin Guitars.

Series

The Martin range starts with their travel friendly Little Martin and Junior acoustics, which offer incredible durability in small sizes. The X Series is your entry level Martin at standard scale lengths. These pack in all the quality you know and love into an affordable instrument. Next up is the Road Series, where they introduce glossy finishes and more tonewood options.

Through the 15, 16 and 17 Series guitars, you'll find the core of the Martin range. Unique finishes, advanced X bracing and tweaked neck profiles display an array of intricacies where you'll find the perfect acoustic to suit your needs. And finally, at the top end of the spectrum is the Standard Series - the best construction quality Martin have to give. They'll age and wear beautifully and stand the test of time.
