Stage pianos are designed from the ground up for portability while still capturing the sound and feel of an acoustic piano.
Unlike upright home pianos, they’re compact and compatible with various inputs/outputs and piano stands to accommodate different setups and live venues. There's a difference between stage pianos and keyboards though – the former has weighted action keys, the same as a classical piano. Crammed inside a streamlined chassis are a variety of sounds like acoustic and electric piano models, organs, strings, synths and pads, and even drum kits, plus a host of effects like reverb and delay.
Higher end models geared towards live performance add more expressive features like pitch and mod wheels, best-in-class key action, broader connectivity options and easily accessible sound design.
