Product Description

You might not know Hugh Padgham by name, but you'll definitely have heard some of the music he's worked on. Sting, The Police, Phil Collins and Genesis are just some of the industry heavyweights that Hugh has recorded over the years.

He was even responsible for pioneering the classic gated reverb snare drum, and became a leading figure when it came to mixing together electronic and acoustic drums. To put it simply, changing the landscape of how drums were used in any given production were Hugh's bread and butter. Now, with Toontrack's Hitmaker SDX, harness the power of song-ready drums recorded by the pioneering man himself!

Drum Arsenal

Captured at British Grove Studios, Hugh's aim was to craft a selection of electronic and acoustic drums that pay homage to the greatest '80s/'90s sounds and drummers from across his storied career.

A huge arsenal of vintage hardware drum machines and six acoustic drum kits were collated and then recorded to tape (before being converted digitally), ensuring a sonic palette that accurately reflects the period. To add even more time-specific flavour, each drum machine was amped through a PA system - with the same ambience applied to the acoustic drums - and then recorded using the same original mic setups.

The result is an extensive selection of electronic and acoustic tones that can be blended together and then tweaked using the integrated design tools within Superior Drummer 3.
