Here is what Flattley Guitar Pedals say about the Flattley Valkyrie Vintage Chorus Pedal:
The “Valkyrie” Chorus pedal is our take on those 80’s flangers we all had but sadly sold at some point. Using similar delay line technology from that era, the Valkyrie pedal also has a wider range of control and depth to be able to do more than “just that chorus sound”. A classic effect derived from taking a signal through a delay line whose speed is being modulated by a low frequency oscillator and then adding that signal to the original. Simple to drive with just two controls, Rate and Depth.
Rate controls the speed of the triangle low frequency oscillator from a slow swoosh to a rapid fast Leslie and beyond. Depth controls how much deviation in delay time of the delay line is allowed. At zero, the signal is fattened but without any pitch change, as depth is increased the pitch deviation becomes more. For example, with Rate at minimum and Depth at maximum you get a very lush feel of two guitars playing together. Speed and Depth around half each is classic 80s chorus. Higher rates and depths start to stray into fast Leslie / Univibe territory and both at max can be very weird but oddly useful. Summing up, the faster the rate the less depth you will probably need but, as always, there are no rules with pedals so have fun…
The blue halo light ring installed diffuses the light when playing live, avoiding being blinded by the standard LEDs just as you are about to go into that all important solo thus giving a larger area to see where the pedal is located easily on the pedal board on darkened stages. The addition of the aluminium foot topper gives you more real estate for contact when switching the pedal on and off during quick changes when playing live.
All Flattley “Platinum Range” pedals are hand processed in our Flattley paint shop. The bare aluminium enclosure is abraded prior to painting with the etch primer. The etch primer acts as a anti corrosive layer and allows the primer to bond to the enclosure ensuring a tough resilient paint finish.
Multiple coats of base coat primer are applied which are then lightly abraded to remove any blemishes or paint speckles prior to the application of the base colour. We apply several coats of base colour until an even coverage occurs and the base colour develops rich smooth depth. The Valkyrie is a blue burst model with the luscious blue paint blown into the silver base colour in order to give a burst effect. Metallic holographic chrome flake is then applied using a clear inter coat which adds that all important Flattley sparkle.
Once dried the lacquer process begins. Each “Flattley Platinum” pedal has a minimum of three coats of lacquer which are all wet sanded between coats. Once the lacquer has hardened, it is then hand polished using three different grades of polishing compounds and it then has a final polish to achieve a high gloss finish using a wool finishing pad. This process gives the smooth deep lustre finish that is inherent in all Flattley Guitar and Bass effects pedals.
At this point the Valkyrie graphics are then applied by UV direct printing process giving a very sharp clear image of the original hand drawn Valkyrie image.
