Burl Top Electric Guitars

Burl is not a wood in particular, but an effect that can be applied to many different cuts such as maple, poplar and buckeye, otherwise known as chestnut. It has a compressed swirling effect, made to look like the centre of a tree.

Although not a classic top, burl has been a popular effect used to build many modern guitars such as super strats. Brands like Ibanez, Schecter, ESP and Jackson regularly rely on burl tops for their contemporary style.
