Tuning Forks
Tuning Forks
Invented in 1711, tuning forks are now used not only during musical situations, but therapeutic and medical ones too.
These acoustic resonators consist of a two-pronged fork which are moulded into a U-shape. When struck (using an object or on a surface), they are designed to resonate at a specific constant pitch. They project a clear, musical tone. Each forks pitch is unique; depending on the mass and length of the prongs, they'll deliver a different kind of sound. They're most commonly used when it comes to fine-tuning acoustic instruments. However, they've also become popular tools that are now regularly used during alternative therapy sessions.
