SKU: FATRAT

Product Description

The ProCo Fat Rat is a beefier, feature-filled upgrade on the classic distortion stompbox every rock guitarist should have in their sonic arsenal. You get way more tonal variety, plus that highly sought-after Whiteface Rat sound collectors love to recreate.

The special Whiteface sound

Why would you want the Fat Rat over the standard fuzz/distortion hybrid? So the Fat Rat isn't just an ordinary Rat with more controls; it's actually based on the legendary Whiteface model created in the mid-eighties at the peak of ProCo's influence. This is what many consider to be the foundation of the perfect grimy-sounding Rat. Dark and mysterious with the gain set low and absolutely searing set above 2 o'clock. A massive part of grunge and emo music culture.

Expanded Features

You'll notice two additional switches you don't find on the stock Rat. You now get a choice of silicon clipping like the classic pedal, as well as a brand new mosfet/germanium clipping. Switch over for a lower mids scoop and high-mids smoothing, which sets the pedal to resemble an amp's natural gain staging.

The second switch is the reason for the name: the Fat setting. It significantly boosts the bass and cuts the highs, making it far more useable for lower tunings, bass guitar and generally gives it warmer overdrive sound.

Key Features

  • 100% analog signal path
  • Classic, virtually indestructible steel enclosure
  • Heavy-duty, industrial footswitches, knobs, and jacks

  • Military-spec glass-epoxy circuit board
  • “No tools required” battery compartment (battery not included)
