The Grail is the product of an exciting collaboration between Ashdown and highly skilled luthier, Dan Lakin. These co-designed instruments combine Dan's knowledge and know-how, with Ashdown's engineering expertise. It's just one in a range of innovative new bass guitars created by the duo. After the bass has been produced, it is still subjected to a final set up, as well as an in-depth quality control process.
Old-School Ideas
Taking inspiration from a treasured 1962 bass guitar (and the neck in particular), The Grail began to take shape. The result is a highly playable bass with a classic look.

The Grail was built using some of the finest components available. Every element of this bass' construction was carefully considered at each stage of the manufacturing process. Wilkinson bridges, Hipshot tuners and other professional-grade features contribute to an instrument that'll be with you for years to come.
Crafted from a lightweight alder, the bass remains comfortable to use, even during extended playing sessions. It's complimented by a smooth maple neck. This sits nicely in your hand, allowing you to move smoothly along it, even during intense bouts of any performance. It's augmented by a fingerboard of the same material that's built for precision. The sound is then delivered via a pair of J-style single coil pickups.
