Intellijel Swells is a deep, dynamic stereo reverb module that goes far beyond simple ambience. With nine meticulously crafted reverb models, an onboard SWELL modulation generator and powerful performance tools like FREEZE, REVERSE and BURST, it lets you sculpt everything from subtle space to evolving, cinematic soundscapes directly inside your Eurorack system.

At its core, Swells offers a full suite of hands-on reverb controls, all ready for modulation. The dedicated SWELL generator can follow your audio, react to triggers or sidechain sources, and is normalled to the main parameters for instant movement and expression. Add in LO-FI processing, a saturating DRIVE stage and flexible CV control, and you have a reverb that invites constant tweaking, experimentation and performance.

Swells gives you nine stereo reverb algorithms to explore: Fog, Blur, Shadow, Velvet, Asterion, Deadspace, Buckets, Ritual and Gaze. Whether you are after a natural room, a shimmering wash or a warped, alien environment, each model has been carefully researched and tuned to offer a distinct sonic personality that rewards detailed exploration.

Hands-On Control With Deep Modulation

A comprehensive front panel layout makes it easy to dial in your perfect space. Eight dedicated sliders cover PRE-DELAY, SIZE, DECAY, HI/LO DAMPING and EQ, while each model also has its own EBB and FLOW controls for unique behaviour. INPUT and MIX controls let you set the dry/wet balance precisely, and a DRIVE stage can be engaged to saturate the signal hitting the reverb. Every parameter responds smoothly to modulation, encouraging you to treat Swells as a living, evolving instrument rather than a static effect.

SWELL Generator Modulation Hub

The built-in SWELL generator is a multi-mode envelope follower and modulation source designed to breathe life into your reverbs. It can listen to the input, output or a dedicated sidechain input, and can also be triggered manually or via the TRIG input. With RISE, FALL and THRESHOLD controls, plus EF GAIN and a high cut filter, you can shape how Swells reacts to your playing or patterns. Its output is normalled to all reverb parameters for instant self-modulation, and a dedicated SWELL CV output lets you send this dynamic control signal to other modules in your system.

Creative Performance Effects

On top of the core reverb engine, Swells includes a set of performance-oriented processors to transform your sound in real time. FREEZE captures a moment of audio and feeds it back through the input stage for endless, evolving textures. REVERSE flips the incoming sound from the pre-delay, with adjustable time and sync options for rhythmic reverses. BURST injects noise or feedback alongside your signal to add impact and energy. LO-FI processing offers three levels of model-specific degradation or character, from clean to heavily altered. With an assignable TRIG input and Send/Return mode to disable the dry path when needed, Swells slots easily into both traditional and more experimental patching setups.
