PJD Origin Series
The PJD Origin Series brings PJD’s boutique, premium feel, meticulous design and stunning looks to players of all levels, from beginners to pros. Crafted in the East by select workshops that share the same values in craftsmanship and detail as PJD’s own UK workshop in York, these affordable electric guitars are not imitations of the real thing – they are the real thing, offered at a price that doesn’t bust the bank!
Key Features of the PJD Origin Series
The PJD Origin Series is jam-packed with premium features that would usually only be found on instruments well above its price range. From beautiful Figured Maple tops, solid Mahogany bodies, Maple necks and fingerboards, as well as eye-catching Rosewood. The pickups found on the Origin Series are voiced to provide the same vintage-inspired clarity and note definition that’s found on their premium UK-built pickups, and the hardware is selected for performance and reliability.

Within the PJD Origin Series, PJD offers 4 core models – the Carey, which takes influence from one of the most famous single-cut electric guitars ever produced. The St John, which is PJD's tribute to the offset guitars of the late ‘50s and ‘60s; the York, which is a reimagining of the T-style electric guitar, often featuring a vintage-style 3-saddle bridge and single-coil pickups. And finally, the Woodford, which is their versatile S-type model.
Each body shape is offered in a Standard configuration, featuring a range of different colours and pickup configurations. Select models are also available as a stripped-down Apprentice model, featuring a single pickup and a satin finish. And for players looking for something more premium, there is also a Pro model, which comes equipped with a stunning Figured Maple Top. With these options, there’s a PJD Origin Series electric guitar that’s built to suit every type of player and need.
Who Are PJD Guitars?
Founded as a one-man operation in 2010 by Leigh Dovey, PJD has steadily grown into one of the largest British guitar manufacturers. Originally based in London from a small home workshop, Leigh inherited his love and passion for woodwork at an early age from his father, a prop maker for the Royal Opera House in Covent Gardens. 7 years later, the operation was moved to a larger facility in York, where PJD has gone from strength to strength.
Built using the finest materials and components and built with a level of care and attention that could only be achieved in this sort of workshop, PJD has grown a steady reputation as some of the finest guitars available. With standardised models and offerings to suit every type of player, from their budget-friendly Origin Series to their full-bore British-built Custom Shop range, there is a PJD for everyone.
