Epiphone are breaking new ground with Prophecy electric guitars. These are sleek, modern instruments made for players after aggressive metal tones and the versatility provided by Fishman pickup technology.
The entire range has been completely revamped with sharp new outfits: gorgeous figured maple veneers, cool colours, bold binding and the luxurious feel of a satin finish. They’re an outstanding choice for working and recording guitarists, clocking in at very tempting prices while kitted out with high-end specs made for demanding styles of music. They set aside the design templates of traditional Epiphone guitars in favour of the latest playing features, like 24 stainless steel frets, longer scale lengths, a compound fretboard radius and locking tuners.
Take your pick of Les Paul, Flying V, Victory and SG shapes suited to your personal style.
All Prophecy guitars are equipped with custom-designed Fishman Fluence pickups made especially for the range. They boast three unique voices: a modern, active, high-output sizzle producing a huge modern metal tone heard from the current giants of the genre; a glassy, bell-like single-coil tone that sounds great on lower gain settings for a snappy bite, characterful cleans and soaring leads; and a PAF-style humbucker warmth you’d find from vintage Gibson guitars, exclusive to the Prophecy series.
Although metal players will find themselves right at home with a Prophecy, you’ll also love these guitars if you’re after something incredibly dynamic and more than capable of covering multiple sounds to a high professional standard.
All Prophecy guitars come fitted with a Hyperglide neck, which is a completely non-stick satin surface topped with a stunning dark ebony fretboard.
Prophecy guitars excel in both riffing and shred territory. The compound 10-14-inch radius fretboard feels slightly curvier at the lower frets, ideal for chords, and it flattens out the higher you go for ultra clean and precise lead playing. A total of 24 stainless steel frets on all models gives you an incredibly smooth vibrato, bend action, and long-lasting durability over four octaves.
The mahogany necks on Prophecy guitars are thermally aged to extract residue from the wood, making them incredible handling changes in climate and tough wear. This is backed up by graphite rods ensuring minimal neck movement as your guitar deals with humidity that would otherwise cause tuning and intonation problems.
The regular 24.75-inch scale length on Epiphone and Gibson guitars has been extended to 25.5” to allow for higher string tension when dropping the tuning lower than standard.
There’s also the choice to go longer with a baritone model available to deal out serious low-tuned punishment an octave down from a standard guitar, clocking in at a 27-inch scale length.
Keeping tuning and intonation stability in check are Grover locking tuners and LockTone bridge. These super hard-wearing appointments also make restringing exceptionally quick and easy, with the LockTone bridge staying in place even as you remove all strings – there’s no chance you’ll accidentally knock your string height out of whack either. Hardtail models take influence from the Epiphone Frequensator, a hollowbody archtop bridge design from the ‘40s that still excels at optimising for a balanced tension across all strings.
You have the option of a classic Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo system on specific models, allowing for insanely deep dive bombs and extreme trills while reliably returning in tune.
Keeping your guitar safe on the move isn’t an option – it’s an absolute requirement for the current musician with a guitar as pristine as this. Every Prophecy comes with a Protector Ultralite guitar case included to protect from bumps and scrapes, as well as the ability to carry all your case candy and essential guitar accessories.
The iconic single cut is a heavy beast, but with the Ultra Modern weight relief these Prophecy guitars take the weight off your back and shoulders for a much lighter and more effortless playing experience while remaining as resonant and lively as ever.
