Welcome to Squier’s Paranormal Series: a collection of quirky and kooky sci-fi inspired guitars and basses – a “what if?” of design mashups and colours you can’t find anywhere else in this universe.
The Electric VI is inspired by a real gem in Fender’s vault: the Electric XII, a 12-string made from 1965-69. This Paranormal iteration is of course a 6-string with a slightly smaller headstock than the famed “hockey stick” but still reimagined in the same offset shape as the original.
Leo Fender’s split pickup design
A big part of what made the original Electric XII stand out from other 12-string guitars was the split pickup. The Paranormal is loaded with two of these Fender-designed alnico pickups, serving up fat and punchy tones with a healthy dose of vintage flair.
Another great thing about these single-coils is just how many tones you can get out of them thanks to the novel four-way rotary switch. You can set to enable just the bridge and neck pickups separately, but also both pickups in phase and both out of phase – the former nice and thick and the latter sounding thinner and hollow. It’s rare to get this many unique sounds out of two pickups.
Alternative style and fantastic feel
The Paranormal Electric VI mixes and matches a few more unusual appointments, like the curvy Coronado-inspired headstock and the Electric XII metal control plate making for a cool look you won’t find from other Squier guitars.
You’ve got a familiarly comfy “C” shape neck that’s standard across Squier guitars with a gentle 9.5” radius fretboard, making playing a breeze. The Mustang style trem bridge has a lovely, tidy motion for your classic vibrato effect.
