MEINL Sonic Energy 17.5" Didgeridrum, Synthetic Head

The Meinl Sonic Energy 17.5" Didgeridrum with Synthetic Head is a unique hybrid instrument that blends the earthy drone of a didgeridoo with the punch and resonance of a frame drum. Ideal for sound healing, experimental music and creative percussion setups, it lets you move seamlessly between long, meditative tones and rhythmic patterns, or combine both for rich, layered textures.

With a curved mouthpiece at one end and a 17.5" synthetic drum head on the other, this lightweight instrument is designed for comfort, control and expressive playing. Whether you are building evolving soundscapes, supporting group meditations or adding something different to a percussion ensemble, the Didgeridrum offers a compact, inspiring way to expand your sonic palette.

Two Instruments in One

The Didgeridrum is built as a true hybrid, functioning both as a didgeridoo and a frame drum. The curved mouthpiece allows you to create sustained drones and overtones, while the large synthetic head responds with clear, resonant strikes. This dual design means you can explore melodic drones, rhythmic patterns and percussive accents from a single instrument, opening up performance and composition options without needing extra gear.

Comfortable, Controlled Drones

Meinl have shaped the mouthpiece with carefully considered inner and outer diameters to support relaxed, efficient breath control. This makes it easier to settle into steady drones, experiment with tonal inflections and maintain longer phrases without unnecessary strain. For sound healing practitioners and meditative players, that comfort translates directly into smoother, more consistent sessions.

Resonant Synthetic Drum Head

The 17.5" synthetic head delivers a focused, reliable drum tone with a clear attack and controlled sustain. Synthetic material is less affected by changes in temperature and humidity, helping your sound remain consistent in different environments. From gentle pulses to more pronounced rhythms, the head responds evenly, making it suitable for both subtle sound beds and more defined percussive roles.

Lightweight and Easy to Handle

A lightweight synthetic body keeps the Didgeridrum easy to hold and manoeuvre, whether you are seated, standing or moving around a space. This helps you find comfortable playing positions and adjust your angle for different tones, making it particularly useful in longer sessions or when working in group settings such as sound baths, workshops or ensemble performances.
