The Helix HX Effects was exactly what I needed in my rig. I have an amp and cab that I love so I really just wanted a bunch of stomps and effects to run in front of the amp and in the loop. Connecting the HX Effects via the 4-cable-method gives me this. I will likely be using this for years to come. Cheers.

After watching the quick intro video, set up an initial sound
that was close to what I wanted.
Study of manual and familiarity will yield even better results.

Wow! What an extraordinary piece of kit. Digital technology has come a long way. The sounds are beautiful. So much capability in a single unit. I wish I'd realised how good Helix was before I bought a load of pedals. I don't need them any more. I just need the pandemic to be over so I can go out and make some music with this thing!

Having been a Line6 user from day one, I knew what to expect. Pair this with a Strymon Iridum and you get a great, portable amp platform with endless sound possibilities. Download HX Edit for all your tweaking needs!

I use this in to a clean valve amp. I can't hear the difference between this and my pedal board.
It takes about 1 hour to get to grips with most of the functions.

Am an analogue pedal guy trying this out. Defaults are poor but after spending a little time with unit I am getting good sounds out of my Marshall valve and although, when I have a pedal that is modelled, there is a difference, it’s not much. Interface is simple but you need to spend time finding right effect and tweaking settings. Not as much online giving good settings as I thought there would be

Good sounds but creating snapshots was a problem. Some default button settings made it difficult. Had to delve into forums online to sort issues. Otherwise great product.

So far it's integrated in my rig nearly perfectly. I've since sold all of the pedals from my board (overdrive, delay, reverb, comp, EQ) and now use this for the lot!
My only slight issue is the external jack switches, unfortunately they aren't relay controlled so there is still voltage across the terminals meaning on two of my amps at least (6505 and PRS MT15) I couldn't switch channels properly, or there was a massive noise due to this small voltage being present over ground. The way in which I resolved it was a Voodoo Lab Control Switcher

I downsized my board but upscale my options.
Well worth checking out - not perfect for all, but it met and exceeded my expectations.

Purchased this to replace my beaten up old Line 6 M13, and it hasn't disappointed. Really easy to use, great effects, and really versatile. Not the greatest in terms of the distortions, but the modulations, delays and reverbs are all top notch. Would definitely recommend.

It sounds pretty good and once you get into the mind set of the controls it’s easy to use - they should be more helpful when explaining how to set up 4 cable method. It took several people and about 20 FB posts to figure out what I’d done wrong. Can you live without separate boxes? It should absolutely come loaded with the patch that stops a horrid popping noise when leaving tuning mode. A less patient buyer may have sent it back straight away.

So far so good. The sound quality is very good. I have some concerns about the build quality of the hx effects such as the menu buttons but overall seems to be a good unit.

Does everything it claims to do. Sounds great through the effects loop of my H&K Tubemeister 36. Bought this as I love the tone of my amp and therefore didn't need all the amp and cab models the Helix offers. Bought replace my M13 and I'm glad I did!!

My pedal board has become smaller than one-sixth the size. Amp channel control and MIDI control can be used, it looks like a control tower of a switching system. Sound is also perfect. Snapshots are really useful. It would be even better if there was another send return. I don't like modeling amps, so it's the best multi-pedal to get the most out of your amp. I built a 4CM with Send Return 1 and connected my favorite pedal to Send Return 2. The channel of the Amp is switched with EXP1, and my favorite pedal presets etc. is controlled with MIDI. The expression pedal is assigned to EXP2. Helix Effect is a perfect multi-FX for me.

Amazing piece of kit even though it developed a fault with the power supply within the first week but one phone call and a replacement unit arrived the following day from Andertons. Hours of fun but you do need to get an expression pedal to make the most of whats on offer.

I hear/read a lot about how intuitive this is. I didn't find it so for about 3/4 hour. After that I was able to set up and save some basic 'pedal' options. I read the manual for the options I thought I needed and spent a couple of hours exploring and tweaking my basic setup.
That weekend I played a festival gig replacing my large pedal board with the HX effects, nothing fancy just straightforward sounds. Familiarity will make the experience better so I don't have to look at my feet so much, I also need to refine the levels which jumped far more at stage volume than home practice amp would suggest.
Quality of effects is as good as anticipated, the lurning curve is being travelled and I am pleased with my purchase which represents excellent value for money.

Fantastic unit, does everything you would expect it to and more.
Only stumbling block was that it doesn't tell you about updating it to the lastest firmware (2.71), ideally you should do this before you start using it to get the best features and use with a laptop.

The unit is mostly easy to use but it's an absolute tone sucker when used in 4 cable method. The noise floor is also pretty bad, the unit introduces lot's of issues when used in your amp's effects loop.

Line 6 HX
Confession time…
I’m a fool of a pedal snob, having spent way more than I ever should on pedals, connectors, power supplies, adapters, boards, GigRig G2, etc etc.
I bought the HX out of curiosity because of all the hype (coupled with Andertons 14 day returns policy if I didn’t like it). I was going to try it out at length with my own gear up against my pedals and having established that it couldn’t match my pedalboard, it was going back to Andertons.
It never went back.
This is why:
Pros
The overdrives/fuzz sound fantastic and to my ears, are as good as my pedals!
The other effects are of an equally high standard and can mostly compete with the pedal versions.
The HX is easy to use. Seriously, it really is!
It works exactly like a real pedal board but better. Rearranging pedal order to experiment with tones takes seconds compared to unplugging/plugging in on a normal board.
You can have up to 9 overdrives on at once (should you feel the need). You can stack them like the KoT, D&M Drive (great pedals) and also run them in parallel like the Boss Angry Driver (another great pedal).
It can channel switch your amp via TRS or Midi.
It brings an end to tap dancing (if you want it to).
Did I mention that it sounds great and is easy to use, just like pedals.
It offers fantastic flexibility and you can do stuff with your “virtual pedals” which you could never do with a real board.
In setting up your tone, it’s just like using pedals on a real board.
You can adjust any setting on any “pedal” with your foot whilst playing. Need more gain? Adjust with foot. Change rate on phaser? Adjust with foot. Change delay mix? Adjust with foot. No more “toeing” knobs and accidentally turning more than the one intended mid song.
The Univibe is the nicest I’ve heard.
If you have “unique must have” pedals these can be included via the external loops and used in the same way as the virtual pedals.
Cons
I did have to read the manual a couple of times but only in order to take advantage of all the options on offer.
The whammy / pitch shift is not polyphonic so I’ll be hanging on to my Digitech Whammy DT.
Conclusion
Can the HX outgun or match every pedal ever made? Of course it can’t, and it would be a nonsense to expect it to do so. Can it come close enough to the tones of my favourite drives (KoT, Angry Driver, D&M Drive, OCD) that I would struggle to differentiate in blind A/B testing? Yes it can.
We’re all different. I like the simplicity of plugging a guitar into a pedal board and then straight into a real tube amp. I could never cope with Kempers, full blown Helix, Axe FX as I would get a terminal case of option paralysis.
Most important of all, this sounds great. It’s better than a real pedal board in terms of felxibility. It’s easy to understand and you adjust settings like you do on real pedals. At £399 it’s fantastic value for money and having loathed multi fx since they first came out, has finally convinced me to embrace the new tech.
