The Gibson Les Paul Custom ‘70s features an era-specific carved 3-piece Maple top along with a Maple neck and Ebony fingerboard for a foundational tone full of the rich sustain that Les Pauls of this era are famed for. With its duo of T-Type humbuckers, this guitar sounds present and articulate with a well-rounded, open tonality that cuts through any mix. No matter how much distortion is thrown at it, notes remain defined with good string separation. Calibrated T-Type Humbuckers

While maintaining a lot of the same warmth, articulation, dynamics and openness that’s associated with the earlier Gibson PAF humbuckers, these calibrated T-Type humbuckers, based on the famed T-Top Gibson Humbuckers, offer a little more top end and a tighter bass response thanks to their Alnico 5 magnets and Polysol wire. The perfect pickup for the higher-gain playing styles that were rising to popularity at the time.

’70s Les Paul Custom

The Les Paul Customs' triumphant return to the Gibson catalogue in the late ‘60s came with a number of changes aimed at appeasing the new styles of modern players. In keeping with the usual wood configuration of the Les Paul Standard model, the Custom model now featured a carved maple top. Earlier iterations of the Customs came with a solid mahogany body for a slightly different, more Jazz-oriented tonal flavour. By the ‘70s, the Custom model was changed again, this time with the introduction of an all-maple neck. The maple neck and carved top work in perfect combination with the mahogany back to create an extremely balanced and harmonically rich guitar tone.

The Gibson Les Paul Custom ‘70s is proudly crafted in the USA using the best tonewoods, hardware, electronics and pickups and expertly finished with nitrocellulose lacquer to optimise tone and allow the guitar to breathe and resonate how it should. This tuxedo-dressed Les Paul comes with a Gibson hardshell case for optimum protection on the road and even when stored away at home.
