Product Description
The Dean ML 79 Floyd Classic Black takes the legendary 1977 ML design and arms it for modern metal and hard rock. With an Eastern Mahogany body and set neck, DMT Time Capsule humbuckers and a Floyd Rose Special tremolo, this is a no-nonsense, high-output workhorse that delivers classic Dean attitude with rock-solid tuning stability.
True to the original ML blueprint, the ML 79 Floyd combines huge sustain, punchy mids and a fast-playing neck with the iconic offset body shape that put Dean on the map. The bound body and Indian Rosewood fingerboard add a touch of class to the aggressive silhouette, while the versatile electronics and premium hardware make it ready for stage, studio and everything in between.
Classic ML Heritage
Since 1977, the ML has been the flagship of the Dean line-up, and the ML 79 Floyd Classic Black stays faithful to that legacy. The instantly recognisable body shape is not just for looks; its extended wings help balance the instrument and contribute to its resonant, sustaining character. Finished in a sleek Classic Black with body binding, it captures the spirit of the original ML while offering a clean, modern aesthetic that fits any heavy genre.
Eastern Mahogany Power and Sustain
An Eastern Mahogany body and Eastern Mahogany set neck form the tonal heart of this guitar. This tried-and-tested combination delivers a warm, full-bodied sound with rich low end and pronounced midrange, perfect for thick rhythm work and singing lead tones. The set neck construction enhances sustain and note bloom, so chords ring out and solos cut through with authority.
DMT Time Capsule Pickups
The DMT Series Time Capsule humbuckers are voiced to recapture the character of Dean’s original late 70s pickups, while still handling today’s high-gain demands. They provide punchy, articulate tones that stay tight under distortion, with enough clarity for clean passages and dynamic playing. Whether you are chasing classic hard rock crunch or modern metal aggression, these pickups keep every note defined.
Floyd Rose Special Tremolo
A Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo lets you divebomb, flutter and scream without sacrificing tuning stability. Locked at both the nut and the bridge, your strings stay in tune through extreme whammy bar abuse and wide bends. Combined with the Grover 18:1 tuners, you get precise tuning adjustments and the confidence to perform the most expressive vibrato and pitch effects.
Features
- Eastern Mahogany Body and Set Neck - The all Eastern Mahogany construction delivers a warm, powerful voice with strong mids and impressive sustain. The set neck design improves resonance and note transfer, giving you a solid, responsive feel under the fingers.
- DMT Series Time Capsule Pickups - Vintage-inspired humbuckers capture the nostalgic tones of the original Dean ML while remaining tight and articulate for modern high-gain styles. They offer a wide dynamic range, making it easy to move from crunchy rhythms to singing leads.
- Floyd Rose Special Tremolo System - The double-locking Floyd Rose Special bridge and R3 locking nut provide rock-solid tuning stability, even with aggressive tremolo use. This lets you explore extreme pitch effects and expressive vibrato without worrying about your tuning drifting.
- Bound Body and Indian Rosewood Fingerboard - Cream binding on the body and a smooth Indian Rosewood fingerboard add a premium look and feel. The 12 inch radius and jumbo frets make bends and fast runs comfortable, while pearloid dot inlays keep navigation clear on dark stages.
