Analogue Delay Pedals
Warm, characterful ambience and unbeatable organic tone at your feet.
Delay is one of the most versatile effects out there, and analogue delay pedals have a special character and lush depth that’s kept them popular in the modern day. Known for their darker, more natural-sounding repeats compared to digital units, analogue delays can add vibrant texture to lead parts or create a mesmerising sense of space in ambient playing.
Most modern analogue delays use bucket-brigade device (BBD) circuitry, a design introduced by Boss in the early 1980s. These chips pass the signal through a chain of capacitors, gradually degrading the sound with each repeat. As a result, each repeat tends to get darker in sound, creating a distinctive warm tone and allowing you to still hear the clarity of your guitar signal over top. It’s this natural, organic decay that has made analogue delays such a favourite among players.
