Cajons at Andertons Music Co.

Discover compact, versatile percussion with Cajons at Andertons Music Co. Played by sitting on the instrument and striking different areas of its playing surface, the cajon can produce everything from deep bass tones to sharp, snare-like accents. Its combination of portability and rhythmic versatility makes it particularly popular for acoustic performances, busking, rehearsals and percussion setups where a full drum kit isn't practical.

What Is a Cajon?

A cajon is a box-shaped percussion instrument with a resonant body and playing surface that responds differently depending on where and how it is struck. Many modern cajons incorporate internal snare wires or strings to create a crisp backbeat alongside deeper bass sounds. Different woods, playing surfaces and snare systems can influence the instrument's response, giving percussionists plenty of options when choosing their preferred sound.

Traditional, Snare & Alternative Cajons

From traditional box designs to snare cajons, bongo cajons and electronic options, there are different approaches to suit a variety of players and performances. Some models focus on powerful bass and defined snare sounds, while others provide additional percussion voices or more compact playing formats. Cajon accessories can also help expand your setup, making it possible to incorporate the instrument into a broader percussion or acoustic performance rig.
