Music Man DarkRay Bass Guitars

Music Man DarkRay Bass Guitars at Andertons Music Co.

Combine iconic StingRay design with aggressive modern bass tones with Music Man DarkRay Bass Guitars at Andertons Music Co. Created in collaboration with Darkglass Electronics, the DarkRay builds on the Music Man StingRay Special platform with an integrated Darkglass preamp and onboard drive effects. Available in four and five-string configurations, the DarkRay is designed for bassists who want classic Music Man punch alongside distortion and fuzz without relying entirely on external pedals.

Music Man Meets Darkglass Electronics

At the heart of the Music Man DarkRay is a custom Darkglass 2-band active preamp offering three modes: Clean, Alpha distortion and Omega fuzz. Dedicated gain and blend controls allow the driven signal to be mixed with the clean bass tone, helping retain low-end definition while adding anything from tighter distortion to more aggressive fuzz. A three-way selector and colour-coded LED ring make it easy to see which mode is active.

StingRay Special Performance

Underneath its Darkglass electronics, the DarkRay retains many of the features associated with the StingRay Special platform. These include a neodymium humbucking pickup, roasted maple neck, contoured body, sculpted five-bolt neck joint and 22 stainless steel frets. Four-string DarkRay models feature Music Man's familiar 3+1 headstock arrangement, while the DarkRay 5 uses a 4+1 configuration.
