Fender electrics are a popular choice but their acoustic cousins aren't quite so common. The new Paramount range, designed in the USA and made in China, are attractive, great value acoustic guitars. Whether you're new to guitar or a more experienced player you should give them a try.
The PM2 parlour has a nice middle end balance with good projection and quite a 'new guitar' sounding upper-mid sound. This gives you a lot more depth than you'd expect from a guitar in this price range.
Some companies skimp on the finish on low-mid range models in favor of price. Fender have managed to fit a lot of personality onto these guitars without padding the price. They have a 60’s style checkerboard rosette, a 40's style logo and 60's style inlays. It might seem like a strange combo of decades and styles but the overall effect is pleasing.
The Paramount pickup and preamp system in this guitar gives you a lot of tone options. It has a bass and treble EQ for fine tuning your amplified sound. The built in tuner is fast and responsive and the phase switch lets you cut-out feedback on stage.
The pickups let the acoustic character of the guitar come through. The dreadnought sounds rich and deep while the parlour has a more potent mid range.
Here's What Fender Say About The PM2
U.S.-designed Paramount series acoustic instruments are finely crafted and specially voiced to bring your artistic vision to life. Each all-solid guitar offers many legacy design elements of classic ’60s models, including special checkerboard binding and rosettes, unique pickguard shape, and abalone and mother-of-pearl "Concert Tone" fretboard inlays. And even with this art deco look, Paramount instruments still retain their footing in modern design. All-new Fender- and Fishman®-designed PM preamp systems are equipped with specially voiced for each body shape in the series, ensuring complete tonal control and variation.
Available in an elegant natural or Vintage Sunburst finish, the Paramount Standard Parlor features not only thoughtful vintage appointments, but also the craftsmanship of a truly high-performing instrument. Crafted from premium all-solid tone woods such as mahogany back and sides and grade "A" Sitka spruce top and equipped with quarter sawn scalloped "X" bracing, the Standard parlor is designed with freely vibrating, resonant tone in mind. It also features a fast-playing "C"-shaped mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, both of which are designed to accommodate the most demanding playing styles.
