Parlour Acoustic Guitars
The parlour guitar is one of the oldest forms of the instrument that’s still in use today. We stock a wide range of modern varieties to suit every need!
Often considered the smallest of the acoustic guitar family (excluding ukuleles and other folk instruments), the parlour guitar is known for its excellent portability, rich midrange harmonics, and naturally nostalgic appearance. It was originally developed in the late 19th Century as a smaller, cheaper alternative to the traditional acoustic guitar design. Less wood meant quicker, cheaper manufacture, which made it a more affordable option. The result was a surge in popularity of the guitar; American guitar music between the 19th and early 20th century is often referred to as ‘parlor guitar’ – note the American spelling.
The parlour acoustic is defined by its pinched body shape, making it comfortable to hold and transport. It also often has a shorter scale length, with the fretboard traditionally meeting the body at the 12th fret.
Our parlour range includes some of the most popular brands and models on the market. This includes offerings from Gibson, Gretsch, Larrivée, Epiphone and many more. Get in touch if you’d like to know more about the range – otherwise you’ll find the full selection below!
