Product Description
The Sire V7 Alder-5 New Gen in Mercury is a modern 5-string jazz-style bass created with player feedback at its core. Retaining the classic V7 look and versatile sound, this updated generation refines the neck feel, simplifies the electronics and adds durable stainless steel frets, giving gigging bassists and serious learners a comfortable, reliable and highly expressive instrument.
With its updated neck profile and rolled fingerboard edges, the V7 Alder-5 New Gen feels fast and familiar from the first touch. The streamlined preamp keeps all the tonal flexibility Sire are known for, while making it easier to dial in great sounds quickly. Stainless steel frets add slick playability and long-term durability, so you can play night after night with total confidence.
Updated New Gen Neck
The V7 New Gen neck has been reshaped for easier playing, with a comfortable profile that sits naturally in the hand. Combined with Sire’s Edgeless rolled fingerboard edges, position shifts feel smooth and effortless, helping you play more cleanly and confidently across all five strings.
Simplified, Versatile Preamp
By removing the coil tap switch and moving to a simple four-knob layout with push/pull active and passive switching, Sire have made the V7 quicker to understand on stage and in the studio. You still get a wide range of usable tones, but with fewer distractions and more intuitive control over your sound.
Stainless Steel Frets
Stainless steel frets offer a slick, glassy feel under the fingers and are far more resistant to wear than traditional fretwire. This means more consistent intonation and playability over time, ideal for players who rehearse and perform regularly or enjoy bending and vibrato-heavy styles.
Classic Jazz-Inspired Style
The V7 Alder-5 New Gen keeps the timeless jazz-style silhouette that fits into any musical setting. From function gigs and studio sessions to church, pop and fusion, its familiar look and ergonomic body design make it a comfortable and professional choice for working bassists.
Features
- New Gen Neck with Rolled Edges - The updated neck profile and Sire’s Edgeless rolled fingerboard edges provide a smoother, more comfortable feel, reducing hand fatigue and making long sets or practice sessions easier on your fretting hand.
- Streamlined Active and Passive Electronics - A simplified four-knob layout with push/pull active and passive switching gives you fast access to a wide range of tones, allowing you to adapt quickly between genres and playing situations without overcomplicating your setup.
- Stainless Steel Frets - Hard-wearing stainless steel frets maintain a clean playing surface and accurate intonation for longer, so your V7 stays gig-ready with less frequent fretwork and a consistently smooth feel under your fingers.
- 5-String Flexibility - The extended low range of the 5th string lets you cover modern worship, R&B, fusion and contemporary pop lines with ease, giving you more options for creative bass parts without needing to retune.
