Music Man Session StingRay Bass Guitar in Tobacco Burst

The Music Man Session StingRay in Tobacco Burst takes the iconic StingRay blueprint and refines it for modern players, delivering that unmistakable punch and growl with slick, contemporary playability. With a roasted maple neck, powerful Alnico 5 humbucker and an active 3-band preamp, this four-string workhorse is built to cover everything from tight studio sessions to high-energy live gigs.

Part of the premium Music Man Session series, this StingRay reimagines the classic 1990s and 2000s models with updated materials and meticulous craftsmanship. The finish-dependent ash or poplar body provides a solid tonal foundation, while the comfortable neck profile, compensated nut and dual-action truss rod ensure a precise, dialled-in feel that rewards every nuance of your playing.

At the heart of the bass is a dedicated Music Man Session Alnico 5 humbucker feeding a responsive 3-band active preamp. This combination delivers the signature StingRay voice with added flexibility, letting you sculpt everything from tight, percussive funk tones to thick rock grind and articulate, modern clarity. Whether you play fingerstyle, pick or slap, the Session StingRay stays focused, punchy and present in the mix.

Practical details like the 6-bolt neck joint, Music Man Schaller open-gear tuners and Session designed bridge keep things rock solid night after night. With its classic double cut StingRay silhouette and rich Tobacco Burst finish, this is a bass that looks as good as it sounds and feels, ready to become the centrepiece of your rig.

Modern Take on a Classic StingRay Voice

The Music Man Session Alnico 5 humbucker delivers the instantly recognisable StingRay character with punchy lows, articulate mids and clear, singing highs. Paired with the active preamp, it gives you a wide tonal palette that works across funk, rock, pop, fusion and beyond, all while retaining that authoritative StingRay presence.

Comfortable Roasted Maple Neck

The roasted maple neck and fingerboard option offer enhanced stability and a smooth, fast feel under the fingers. The oil and wax finish feels natural and broken-in from day one, while the 11 inch radius and 21 frets support everything from relaxed groove playing to more adventurous melodic lines and solos.

Powerful 3-Band Active Preamp

The 3-band active preamp gives you dedicated bass, middle and treble controls, making it easy to fine-tune your sound for any room or style. From deep, rounded lows to cutting, aggressive mids and bright, snappy highs, you can shape your tone on the instrument itself without relying on outboard EQ.

Rock-Solid Hardware and Construction

A 6-bolt neck attachment, Music Man Session designed bridge and Music Man Schaller open-gear tuners work together to provide excellent tuning stability, consistent intonation and a reassuringly solid feel. The compensated nut and dual-action truss rod help keep the instrument playing its best, gig after gig.
