Product Description
The Music Man Session StingRay in Natural takes the iconic punch, growl and clarity of the classic StingRay bass and refines it for modern players. With a sleek roasted maple neck, a powerful Alnico 5 humbucker and a flexible 3-band active preamp, it is built to deliver studio-ready tones and rock-solid performance on stage or in the rehearsal room.
Part of the premium Music Man Session series, this StingRay blends the feel and sound of the legendary 1990s and 2000s models with contemporary craftsmanship. From the comfortable 34 inch scale and 11 inch radius fingerboard to the precise compensated nut and dual-action truss rod, every detail is designed to keep you playing your best, night after night.
Modern Take on a Classic StingRay
The Session StingRay keeps the familiar double cut body shape and four-string layout that made the original a staple of countless records. Its ash or poplar body (finish dependent) provides a solid, resonant platform for that unmistakable StingRay voice, while the Natural finish lets the wood speak visually as clearly as it does sonically.
Roasted Maple Neck Feel
A roasted maple neck with matching roasted maple or rosewood fingerboard (finish dependent) offers a smooth, fast playing surface with excellent stability. Finished in oil and wax, it feels organic and broken-in straight out of the gig bag, encouraging long sessions without fatigue whether you play fingerstyle, pick or slap.
Powerful Alnico 5 Humbucker and Active Preamp
At the heart of the Session StingRay is a Music Man Session Alnico 5 humbucker feeding a 3-band active preamp. This combination delivers the classic StingRay blend of tight lows, articulate mids and crisp highs, with plenty of output to cut through any mix. The simple master volume and 3-band EQ layout makes it quick to dial in everything from vintage warmth to modern bite.
Roadworthy Hardware and Construction
A six-bolt neck joint ensures a secure connection between neck and body, enhancing sustain and tuning stability. Music Man Schaller open-gear tuners provide precise, reliable tuning, while the Session-designed bridge keeps intonation and string spacing locked in. A dual-action truss rod allows fine-tuning of neck relief to match your preferred setup.
Features
- Iconic StingRay Tone and Feel - The classic four-string StingRay configuration, long 34 inch scale and solid ash or poplar body (finish dependent) deliver the punchy, growling character that has defined generations of bass playing, making it ideal for rock, funk, pop and beyond.
- Roasted Maple Neck with Oil and Wax Finish - The roasted maple neck and fingerboard options provide enhanced stability and a smooth, fast feel. The oil-and-wax finish gives a natural, non-sticky playing surface that feels comfortable during long gigs and sessions.
- Music Man Session Alnico 5 Humbucker and 3-Band EQ - The Alnico 5 humbucker delivers a powerful yet articulate voice, while the active 3-band preamp lets you sculpt bass, mids and treble to suit any style or venue, from subtle studio tweaks to bold live tones.
- Stable Hardware and Precise Playability - A six-bolt neck joint, Music Man Schaller open-gear tuners, compensated nut and dual-action truss rod work together to provide reliable tuning, accurate intonation and a consistently comfortable playing experience.
