Product Description
The Music Man Session StingRay in Black takes the iconic 90s and 2000s StingRay formula and refines it for the modern player. With a powerful Alnico 5 humbucker, active 3 band EQ and a rock solid roasted maple neck, it delivers the unmistakable StingRay punch with enhanced comfort, stability and tonal flexibility for today’s stages and studios.
Built around a classic four string, long scale platform, this Session model balances familiar feel with thoughtful upgrades. From the compensated nut and dual action truss rod to the dedicated Session bridge and premium open gear tuners, every detail is geared towards reliable performance, accurate intonation and a responsive, musical playing experience.
The body provides a solid, resonant foundation for the bass’s signature voice, while the roasted maple neck and fingerboard option offer a smooth, fast feel under the fingers. The 11 inch radius and 21 fret layout support everything from traditional fingerstyle lines to more adventurous melodic playing, with enough upper register access for solos and chordal work.
At the heart of the Session StingRay is its dedicated Alnico 5 humbucker and active preamp. The pickup delivers the familiar StingRay growl, clarity and low end authority, while the 3 band EQ lets you sculpt your sound for any genre or mix. Whether you need tight, percussive slap tones, warm, rounded fingerstyle or bright, cutting rock sounds, the control layout keeps everything intuitive and fast to dial in.
Modern Take on a Classic StingRay
This Session model reimagines the much loved StingRay blueprint with a focus on refined craftsmanship and contemporary performance. You get the instantly recognisable punch and articulation that defined generations of bass playing, paired with updated hardware and electronics that make it a dependable workhorse for modern gigs and recording.
Comfortable Roasted Maple Neck
The roasted maple neck, finished in oil and wax, feels smooth and natural, encouraging long playing sessions without fatigue. Roasting adds stability and resistance to environmental changes, while the 11 inch radius and 21 frets provide a comfortable, versatile platform for a wide range of techniques.
Powerful Alnico 5 Humbucker and Active EQ
The Music Man Session Alnico 5 humbucker delivers tight lows, articulate mids and clear highs, capturing the essence of the classic StingRay sound. Paired with the active 3 band preamp, you can quickly shape your tone to suit different styles and rooms, from deep, supportive lows to bright, cutting presence.
Rock Solid Hardware and Playability
A six bolt neck joint, compensated nut, dual action truss rod and dedicated Session bridge work together to maximise tuning stability, sustain and precise setup. Music Man Schaller open gear tuners offer smooth, accurate adjustments, while the long 34 inch scale length maintains familiar string tension and definition across the fretboard.
