Product Description
The EMG Kirk Hammett Bone Breaker Humbucker Pickup Set in Spectrum is a limited edition take on Kirk’s signature tone, created to celebrate 50 years of EMG Pickups. Pairing the crushing output of active electronics with a mystifying multi-coloured Metalworks Spectrum cap, this set delivers tight, articulate Metallica inspired tones while giving your guitar a striking custom-shop look for 2026.
Developed with Kirk Hammett to refine his classic active sound, the Bone Breaker set balances searing gain with surprisingly usable cleans. Subtle preamp tweaks and a carefully voiced magnet combination give you a BB-B Ceramic bridge pickup for razor-sharp rhythm and lead work, and a BB-N Alnico 5 neck pickup for smoother, more rounded tones. Whether you are chugging through down-tuned riffs or soaring into melodic solos, this set keeps every note focused, punchy and noise-free.
As with all EMG active systems, the Bone Breaker set is designed to be consistent and reliable on stage and in the studio. The included solderless wiring kit makes installation straightforward, letting you upgrade your guitar without having to fire up a soldering iron. Once installed, you get the familiar EMG clarity and low noise floor, with a more nuanced, modern take on Kirk’s legendary sound.
Only available during 2026, the Spectrum finish adds a unique visual twist that will stand out under stage lights and in the studio. If you want a pickup set that delivers crushing metal tones, versatile cleans and a limited edition aesthetic, the EMG Kirk Hammett Bone Breaker Spectrum set is built to do exactly that.
Bone Breaker Kirk Hammett Voicing
The Bone Breaker set takes the essence of Kirk Hammett’s classic EMG sound and refines it with updated preamp tuning. You get the aggression and saturation you would expect for Metallica style riffing, but with extra clarity and dynamic response so complex chords, fast runs and palm-muted chugs all cut through the mix.
Alnico 5 Neck and Ceramic Bridge Combination
By pairing an Alnico 5 magnet in the BB-N neck with a Ceramic magnet in the BB-B bridge, EMG have created a set that covers everything from smooth, rounded neck tones to tight, cutting bridge sounds. The neck pickup excels at fluid leads and warm cleans, while the bridge pickup delivers crisp, crushing rhythm and lead tones with plenty of bite.
Limited Edition Spectrum Metalworks Cap
The Spectrum Metalworks cap gives these pickups a unique, multi-hued finish that instantly sets your guitar apart. Only available throughout 2026 to mark EMG’s 50th anniversary, this limited edition look adds a premium, custom aesthetic that is as eye-catching as the tone is powerful.
Solderless Installation System Included
EMG’s exclusive solderless install system is included in the box, making it far easier to fit the Bone Breaker set into your guitar. With pre-wired pots, connectors and cables, you can complete the upgrade with minimal tools and no soldering, reducing installation time and helping ensure a clean, reliable wiring job.
