EMG Jim Root Deamonum Pickup Set in White

The EMG Jim Root Daemonum pickup set in white distils years of collaboration between Slipknot/Stone Sour riff lord Jim Root and EMG into a brutally precise, highly versatile active duo. Voiced to deliver everything players love about the classic 81/60 combination, but enhanced with EMG’s Retro Active architecture, this set offers searing high gain rhythm tones, articulate leads and surprisingly expressive cleans, all while keeping noise to an absolute minimum.

Built around stud pole pieces and custom Retro Active preamps, the Daemonum set gives you the tight, focused aggression that defined Jim’s earlier tones, with added dynamic response and clarity. Whether you are chugging through modern metal, layering atmospheric cleans or switching between tunings on stage, these pickups are designed to stay clear, controlled and consistent. Finished in striking white, they are a perfect visual and sonic upgrade for any performance-focused guitar.

Both pickups are supplied with EMG’s solderless wiring system, making installation straightforward even if you have never wired a guitar before. With dedicated volume and tone controls, plus all the cables and hardware you need in the box, you can drop the Daemonum set into your favourite guitar and be stage ready in no time.

Jim Root Signature Active Tone

Jim Root spent years refining this set to capture the essence of his long-time 81/60 combo, while expanding its flexibility. The result is a signature voice that handles tight, down-tuned riffs, fluid leads and clean passages with equal authority. If you are chasing modern metal tones that cut through dense mixes without getting harsh or muddy, this set is voiced from the ground up to deliver.

Retro Active Design with Custom Preamps

Unlike traditional active pickups, the Daemonum set uses EMG’s Retro Active platform with custom preamps exclusive to this model. This gives you the punch, output and low noise of an active system, combined with a more open, organic response that feels closer to a great passive humbucker. You get improved dynamics, touch sensitivity and a broader tonal palette, ideal for players who rely on their picking nuance and volume control.

Stud Pole Construction for Precision and Attack

Both pickups use stud poles instead of open coils, optimising string-to-string balance and attack. The neck pickup features ceramic studs for a clean, percussive high end that keeps complex chords and fast runs crystal clear. The bridge pickup uses black steel poles with a ceramic magnet, echoing the focused aggression of an EMG 81 while adding extra articulation and bite for rhythm work that stays tight even under extreme gain.

Solderless Installation and Complete Hardware Set

The Daemonum set ships with EMG’s full solderless install system, including pots, jack, buss and all necessary cables. This means you can upgrade your guitar without specialist tools or soldering experience, reducing downtime and risk of wiring errors. Simply connect the colour-coded plugs, mount the pickups and you are ready to play, making this an ideal upgrade for gigging players and home modders alike.
