EMG Jim Root Deamonum Pickup Set with Floyd Spacing in White

The EMG Jim Root Pickup Set with Floyd spacing in white delivers the crushing clarity, tight low end and cutting presence that define Jim Root’s signature sound. Evolving from his long-standing 81/60 combo, this Retro Active-based set captures everything he loved about those classic EMGs, while adding extra dynamics, articulation and versatility for modern metal and high-gain players.

Developed over several years and refined through multiple prototypes, this set pairs a ceramic-studded neck pickup with a steel-poled bridge unit and custom Retro Active preamps. The result is a powerful, percussive voice that stays razor sharp under extreme gain, yet cleans up with ease when you roll back the volume. With Floyd Rose spacing and EMG’s solderless install system included, it is a purpose-built upgrade for players who demand tour-ready performance and hassle-free installation.

Jim Root Signature Tone

Jim Root’s sound is all about tight, aggressive rhythm work and searing, articulate leads. By starting from his trusted 81/60 combination and refining it with Retro Active technology, this set delivers that familiar wall of sound with added nuance and responsiveness. You get the authority and punch you expect, with more detail in your picking and phrasing so complex riffs and fast runs stay crystal clear.

Retro Active Power and Versatility

At the heart of this set are custom Retro Active preamps, exclusive to the Jim Root pickups. These preamps give you the headroom and low noise of an active system while preserving a more open, organic feel. The pickups respond naturally to your volume and picking dynamics, letting you move from saturated high-gain tones to surprisingly expressive cleans without losing definition or impact.

Stud Pole Design for Precision

Unlike traditional open coil humbuckers, both pickups use stud poles for a focused, controlled response. The neck pickup’s ceramic studs deliver a crisp, percussive high end that keeps chords and single notes articulate, even under heavy distortion. In the bridge, black steel poles combined with a ceramic magnet provide the tight, cutting attack and sustain that metal rhythm players rely on, ensuring every note punches through a dense mix.

Floyd Spacing and Solderless Installation

This set is designed with Floyd Rose spacing, aligning the pole pieces accurately under the strings on trem-equipped guitars for consistent output and balance. EMG’s solderless install system is included in the box, so you can swap out your existing pickups with minimal fuss. With pre-wired components and plug-in connectors, you spend less time with a soldering iron and more time playing.

• Jim Root Signature Voicing - Developed over years of collaboration, this set captures Jim Root’s preferred evolution of the classic 81/60 combo, giving you the tight low end, aggressive mids and cutting highs that define his sound, with added dynamic range for modern playing styles.
• Custom Retro Active Preamps - Each pickup features an exclusive Retro Active preamp that combines the punch and low noise of active electronics with a more open, responsive feel, so your tone stays powerful yet expressive across clean, crunch and high-gain settings.
• Ceramic Neck and Steel Bridge Stud Poles - Ceramic studs in the neck pickup provide a clean, percussive top end ideal for articulate cleans and fluid leads, while black steel poles and a ceramic magnet in the bridge deliver a tight, focused attack that keeps even the heaviest riffs defined.
• Floyd Spacing with Solderless Install System - Designed for Floyd Rose spaced bridges, the pickups line up accurately under the strings for consistent response, and EMG’s solderless wiring kit makes installation straightforward, with plug-in connectors and all necessary components included.
