EMG Jim Root Daemonum Pickup Set with Floyd Spacing & Long Shaft in White

The EMG Jim Root Pickup Set with Floyd spacing and long shaft pots in white delivers the crushing clarity, tight low end and cutting attack that define Jim Root’s signature sound. Evolving from his long-standing 81/60 combo, this Retro Active-based set gives you all the aggression and precision you expect from EMG, with added dynamics and versatility for modern metal, rock and beyond.

Developed over several years and refined through multiple prototypes, this set blends the familiar ceramic bite of an EMG 81-style bridge with a percussive, articulate neck pickup that stays clear under extreme gain. Both pickups are voiced around EMG’s Retro Active architecture, giving you the feel and response of a passive pickup with the power, consistency and low noise of an active system. With Floyd Rose spacing and long shaft controls, it is ready for many carved-top and thicker-bodied guitars equipped with locking tremolos.

Whether you are chugging tight rhythms, dropping huge chords or cutting through with searing leads, this set keeps every note focused and defined. The included solderless wiring kit makes installation straightforward, so you can spend less time with a soldering iron and more time dialling in the tones that inspired Jim Root himself.

Jim Root Signature Voice

Jim Root spent years refining this set to capture everything he loved about his classic 81/60 pairing, while expanding the tonal range and responsiveness. The result is a brutally tight, high-output voice that still reacts to your picking dynamics and volume control, ideal for players chasing that modern, arena-ready metal tone.

Retro Active Power and Dynamics

Built around EMG’s Retro Active design, these pickups combine the punch and consistency of active electronics with the feel and nuance of a great passive humbucker. You get fast attack, extended frequency response and very low noise, while still being able to clean up and respond musically when you roll back the volume.

Stud Pole Construction for Precision

Unlike traditional open coil humbuckers, both pickups use stud poles for a focused, controlled magnetic field. The neck pickup’s ceramic studs deliver a crisp, high-end percussive tone that stays clear for complex chords and fast runs, while the bridge pickup’s black steel poles and ceramic magnet provide a tight, aggressive attack that cuts through dense mixes.

Solderless Installation with Floyd Spacing

This set includes EMG’s full solderless install system, making it quick and clean to drop into a compatible guitar. Floyd Rose bridge spacing helps align the pole pieces under the strings on many locking-trem guitars, and the long shaft pots are designed for use in thicker or carved-top bodies where standard controls may not reach.

• Jim Root Signature Tuning - Voiced in collaboration with Jim Root over several years, this set delivers the tight lows, aggressive mids and cutting highs associated with his work, giving you a ready-made route to a proven modern metal sound.
• Retro Active Preamp Design - Custom Retro Active preamps in each pickup provide the punch and clarity of an active system with the touch sensitivity of a passive pickup, so your riffs stay articulate at high gain while still responding to subtle playing nuances.
• Ceramic and Steel Stud Poles - Ceramic stud poles in the neck pickup keep cleans and leads sharp and defined, while the bridge’s black steel poles and ceramic magnet deliver a powerful, focused attack that maintains note separation even with heavy distortion.
• Complete Solderless Wiring Kit - Supplied with EMG’s solderless install system, including volume and tone controls, output jack, buss and cables, this set allows for a neat, reliable installation without soldering, saving time and reducing potential wiring issues.
