Elixir Light 12-53 Polyweb Acoustic Strings

Elixir Light 12-53 Polyweb Acoustic Strings are designed for players who want a warm, played-in acoustic tone that lasts gig after gig. Featuring Elixir’s original Polyweb coating on 80/20 bronze windings, these strings keep their sound and feel far longer than typical sets, so your guitar stays consistent and ready whenever you pick it up.

As the only coated string brand to protect the entire string with an ultra-thin polymer layer, Elixir keep dirt and sweat out of the gaps between the windings, dramatically slowing down tone-deadening corrosion. Combined with Anti-Rust plated plain steels, this set offers reliable performance across all six strings, reducing the hassle and cost of frequent string changes.

The light 12-53 gauge strikes a comfortable balance between playability and full acoustic tone, making it a popular choice for strummers and fingerstyle players alike. The smooth, slick feel of the Polyweb coating is easy on your fingertips, reduces finger squeak and helps your hands glide effortlessly up and down the neck, whether you are recording or performing live.

If you want to spend more time making music and less time changing strings, Elixir Light 12-53 Polyweb Acoustic Strings are a dependable, great-sounding option that keep your acoustic sounding sweet night after night.

Warm, Played-In Acoustic Tone

Elixir Acoustic 80/20 Bronze Strings with Polyweb coating deliver a warm, rounded sound that feels like a favourite, broken-in set straight out of the packet. The 80/20 bronze alloy offers a clear, articulate voice, while the coating gently smooths the top end for a more relaxed, musical tone that suits singer-songwriters, worship players and anyone who prefers a less bright acoustic sound.

Extended Tone Life

Players report that Elixir strings keep their tone longer than any other coated or uncoated set they have tried. By protecting the entire wound string with an ultra-thin Polyweb coating and using Anti-Rust plating on the plain steels, this set resists sweat, grime and oxidation, so your acoustic maintains a consistent, lively response over many sessions.

Smooth Feel and Reduced Finger Squeak

The Polyweb coating gives these strings a notably smooth, almost silky feel that is gentle on your fingertips and enhances overall playability. This slick surface also cuts down on finger squeak, making position shifts quieter and cleaner, which is particularly helpful for recording and for players who use lots of slides and chord changes.

Less Maintenance, More Music

Because Elixir strings hold their tone and resist corrosion for longer, you do not need to change them as often. That means fewer string changes, less time spent on maintenance and better value over the life of each set, allowing you to focus on writing, practising and performing instead of constantly restringing your guitar.

• Polyweb Coated 80/20 Bronze - The original Elixir Polyweb coating on 80/20 bronze windings delivers a warm, played-in tone with a smooth top end. This combination gives your acoustic a rich, musical voice that sits beautifully in a mix without sounding overly bright or harsh.
• Extended Tone Life - Elixir’s ultra-thin coating protects the entire wound string, keeping sweat and gunk out of the gaps between the windings. Players report that their tone lasts significantly longer than with other coated or uncoated strings, so your guitar stays sounding fresh for more sessions.
• Smooth, Low-Noise Feel - The slick Polyweb surface feels soft under the fingers and reduces friction as you move around the neck. This not only improves comfort but also minimises finger squeak, making these strings a strong choice for studio work and detailed fingerstyle playing.
• Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steels - The plain steel strings are treated with an Anti-Rust plating to resist tone-deadening corrosion. This ensures the entire set, not just the wound strings, maintains clarity and tuning stability over time, giving you reliable performance across all six strings.
