Product Description

The St. James 50 6L6H 50W head forms part of Blackstar's all new St. James range of amplifiers, which brings together classic valve tones and modern functionality and portability. In fact, Blackstar claim that the St. James range has the "world's lightest and most innovative 50 watt valve amps!" The St. James range is the result of months of forensic examination of vintage valve amps, delivering an intuitive two channel amp capable of sparkling cleans and searing overdrives in one place.

The 6L6H head is packed full of features and yet it is incredibly easy to use. From power reduction to a built in inductive load, the St James is the perfect blend of vintage and modern that is sure to appeal to the a range of players.

Power Reduction

Based on Blackstar's patented Dynamic Power Reduction design, the St. James allows you to chose from three power levels - 50 watts, 2 watts and Sag. This feature essentially lets you tailor the output of the amplifier for different situations. At full power, you can easily gig with the St. James with plenty of clean headroom, which also makes it a great pedal platform. At 2 watts, you can get the power amp working harder at much lower volumes, making the St. James practical for home use. The Sag setting generates more power supply 'sag' to accentuate the amp compression and the result is a softer feel and more vintage tone.

Built-in Inductive Load

St. James amps have a built-in reactive load which allows you to drive the valves without having to have a speaker connected. A reactive load mimics the electrical response of a speaker to deliver authentic valve power-amp tones at home or in your recording environment. Previously, you would need to purchase an additional expensive load box to do this, which makes the St. James amps incredibly versatile.

Pro Connectivity

The St. James amps are ideal for home recording thanks to their USB connectivity and XLR D.I. output and the accompanying Cab Rig software delivers next generation DSP speaker simulation. By taking advantage of the inductive load feature, you can easily capture authentic valve tones in your home recording environment with zero latency.
