Zvex Hand Painted Woolly Mammoth Bass Fuzz Pedal

The ZVEX Vexter Series Woolly Mammoth HP is a thunderous bass fuzz pedal that delivers colossal low end, snarling mids and smooth, airy highs. Designed first and foremost for bass but adored by guitarists too, it preserves sub frequencies like few other fuzzes, keeping your fundamental intact while piling on a wall of saturated, synth-like grind. This Vexter edition gives you the same legendary circuit as the hand-painted original in a more affordable enclosure, so you can join the herd without breaking the bank.

From tight, gated stutters to huge, blooming sustain, the Woolly Mammoth HP is built to sit proudly at the front of your signal chain and transform your tone. A gentle gate keeps things quiet between phrases, while a musical EQ control lets you sweep from earth-shaking lows to cutting, treble-forward fuzz that slices through any mix. Whether you are crafting filthy modern bass tones, experimental textures or thick, vintage-inspired guitar fuzz, this pedal offers a uniquely responsive and inspiring playing experience.

On bass, the Woolly Mammoth HP excels at keeping your low end powerful and defined, even at extreme settings. It is ideal for players who want their fuzz to feel massive and three-dimensional rather than thin or brittle. On guitar, it becomes a wild, harmonically rich fuzz that can go from sputtery and percussive to smooth and singing, reacting dynamically to your picking and volume control. The result is a versatile, characterful effect that rewards experimentation and invites you to push your sound into new territory.

With its rugged Vexter housing and iconic Zvex artwork, the Woolly Mammoth HP is built to be stomped on night after night. If you are looking for a fuzz that truly loves low frequencies, offers a distinctive gated character and gives you a broad tonal sweep from dark and thunderous to bright and biting, this pedal is a serious contender for the most fun you can have on a pedalboard.

Thunderous, Sub-Preserving Fuzz

At the heart of the Woolly Mammoth HP is its ability to hold on to the lowest lows like almost no other fuzz. Rather than thinning out your sound, it keeps your fundamental strong and weighty, even when the fuzz is cranked. This makes it particularly suited to bassists who want aggressive, saturated tones without sacrificing punch or clarity in the bottom end.

Gentle Gating for Tight, Controlled Riffs

The built-in gentle gate helps to silence your instrument between notes and phrases, reducing unwanted noise without feeling choked or unnatural. This is perfect for tight, staccato lines and stop-start riffs, giving your playing a precise, percussive edge while still allowing sustained notes to bloom when you need them.

Flexible EQ for Bass-to-Treble Sweep

An intuitive EQ control lets you smoothly shift the overall character of the fuzz from deeper, bass-heavy voicings to brighter, more treble-focused tones. This simple yet powerful control makes it easy to tailor the pedal to different instruments, tunings and musical contexts, whether you need to sit under the band with a thick foundation or cut straight through with biting presence.

Vexter Series Affordability with Classic Zvex Character

The Vexter Series Woolly Mammoth HP retains the same core sound and personality as the classic hand-painted Woolly Mammoth, but in a more cost-effective enclosure. You get the iconic Zvex fuzz character and sub-friendly performance in a pedal that is accessible to more players, making it an ideal way to experience one of Zvex Effects most celebrated designs.

• Designed for Bass, Loved on Guitar - Voiced to preserve sub frequencies and low-end power on bass, yet equally devastating on guitar. This dual appeal means one pedal can cover everything from monstrous bass fuzz to wild, harmonically rich guitar tones.
• Sub-Frequency Preservation - The circuit is tuned to hold on to the lowest lows, avoiding the thin, scooped sound that plagues many fuzz pedals. Your fundamental remains solid and authoritative, even at extreme gain settings.
• Built-In Gentle Gate - A subtle gating effect keeps your signal quiet between notes, tightening up your sound for modern, punchy riffs. It reduces hiss and hum without killing sustain, so your lines stay articulate and controlled.
• Vexter Series Construction - The Vexter housing delivers the same core Woolly Mammoth sound in a more affordable format. You get Zvex quality and character in a pedal that is easier to add to your board and your budget.
