Product Description
The Yamaha CX40 II is a no-fuss electro-classical guitar that takes the hugely popular C40 and adds a simple onboard pickup system. It is ideal for beginners, schools, lesson environments and any player who needs reliable nylon-string tone that can be plugged straight into an amp or PA. With its comfortable classical body, easy-playing neck and straightforward volume and tone controls, it is a superb first electro-classical for students and casual performers alike.
Built to Yamaha classroom standards, the CX40 II combines a spruce top with meranti back and sides for a clear, balanced sound that encourages good technique. The traditional 650 mm scale and 52 mm nut width feel instantly familiar to classical teachers and students, while nylon strings and a moderate body depth keep things comfortable for younger hands. Whether you are practising at home, playing along with backing tracks or performing at a school concert, this is a dependable, great-value choice.
The factory-fitted System 50 undersaddle piezo pickup means you do not have to worry about clip-on mics or aftermarket installations. Just plug in, set your volume and tone on the discreet side-mounted controls, and you are ready for lessons, rehearsals or small gigs. It is an ideal step up for players who have outgrown a purely acoustic starter guitar and now need simple, consistent amplification.
With Yamaha's reputation for durability and tuning stability, the CX40 II is built to withstand the demands of classrooms, practice rooms and regular transport. If you are looking for a first electro-classical that will make learning enjoyable and take you confidently onto the stage, this guitar fits the bill perfectly.
Built on the Classic C40 Platform
The CX40 II keeps the same comfortable CG classical body shape and beginner-friendly feel as Yamaha's best-selling C40. That means a familiar neck profile, sensible body depth and a sound that teachers trust, making it a natural choice for students moving into amplified playing.
Simple, Plug-in Nylon-string Amplification
With a System 50 passive undersaddle piezo pickup and onboard volume and tone controls, the CX40 II lets you plug straight into an amp, PA or audio interface. There is no need for extra microphones or complex setups, so it is perfect for lessons, school performances and home recording.
Comfortable Classical Playability
The traditional 650 mm scale length and 52 mm nut width provide the correct spacing for classical technique, while nylon strings are gentle on the fingers. This combination helps beginners develop clean chord shapes and accurate fingerstyle playing without unnecessary strain.
Durable, Classroom-ready Construction
Yamaha's proven build quality, stable nato neck and reliable hardware make the CX40 II a solid choice for schools and busy students. It is designed to hold tuning and cope with regular use, so you can focus on playing rather than constant adjustments.
