Product Description

The Wolff Audio Tutti is a Sunset Sound collaboration 500-series preamp that faithfully recreates the legendary Studio 1 console microphone preamplifier. Built around discrete dual 990 op-amps and custom dual Cinemag nickel transformers, it delivers the warmth, depth and clarity that defined countless classic records, while offering the precision, headroom and control demanded in modern studios.

Developed by Paul Wolff alongside Paul Camarata, using transformer designs by original Cinemag engineer David Geren, the Tutti captures the exact sonic fingerprint of Tutti Camarata’s iconic circuit. With over 60dB of gain, ultra-low distortion and a flat 10Hz to 60kHz frequency response, it is designed to let your microphones and instruments speak with stunning realism, from intimate vocals to powerful drums and rich acoustic sources.

A Tribute to Tutti Camarata and Sunset Sound

The Tutti preamp is a direct homage to Tutti Camarata, founder of Sunset Sound and a true pioneer of recording technology. The original preamp lived at the heart of the Studio 1 console, shaping thousands of legendary sessions. This modern incarnation preserves that heritage by meticulously recreating the original topology, right down to the transformer character, so you can tap into the same sonic DNA that helped define classic Hollywood recordings.

Exceptional Clarity, Warmth and Headroom

At the core of the Tutti are discrete dual 990 op-amps and custom dual Cinemag nickel I/O transformers, chosen for their musicality and precision. The result is a preamp with distortion figures below 0.03 percent below 100Hz and a clip onset at +28dBu, giving you huge headroom for clean, uncoloured amplification. From subtle acoustic work to high-energy rock and orchestral sessions, the Tutti maintains focus, depth and transient detail at any level.

Flexible Front-End for Any Source

The Tutti is designed to integrate seamlessly into a wide range of studio workflows. A front panel microphone input with switchable 150 or 1500 ohm impedance lets you fine-tune the interaction with different microphones, from ribbons and dynamics to condensers. A dedicated TRS input rated at 100k ohms caters for instruments and line-level sources, while the fully variable output fader gives you precise control from infinite to 65dB, making it easy to hit converters, tape or outboard exactly where you want.

Quiet, Efficient and Built for the Long Haul

Every aspect of the Tutti’s design is focused on reliability and real-world studio performance. The phantom power selection system is engineered to eliminate switching noise, protecting both your microphones and your monitoring chain. With power consumption under 100 milliamps per rail, it runs efficiently within a 500-series rack while maintaining rock-solid stability. High-quality components and an elegantly simple circuit layout ensure the Tutti will remain a trusted front-end for years of demanding sessions.
