Sterling by Music Man SUB RAY 4 Bass Guitar in Vintage Sunburst Satin, Maple Neck

The Sterling by Music Man SUB Ray4 delivers the iconic StingRay bass sound and feel in an accessible, gig-ready package. With its punchy active electronics, solid build and classic looks, this Vintage Sunburst Satin model with maple neck is perfect for players who want that unmistakable StingRay growl without breaking the bank.

Loaded with a powerful ceramic humbucker and a 2-band active preamp, the Ray4 offers tight lows, defined mids and crisp highs that cut through any mix. A comfortable maple neck, smooth satin feel and rock-solid hardware make it a reliable workhorse for rehearsals, studio sessions and live shows alike.

Classic StingRay Tone with Active Electronics

At the heart of the Ray4 is a single ceramic humbucking pickup paired with a 9v active 2-band preamp. This combination delivers the signature StingRay sound: deep, focused bass, punchy midrange and clear top-end presence. The active EQ lets you boost or cut bass and treble to suit any style, from tight funk and pop to rock and heavier genres, all while keeping noise to a minimum.

Comfortable Maple Neck and Fretboard

The hard maple neck and fingerboard provide a bright, snappy response that enhances clarity and definition. A 34 inch scale length, 9.5 inch radius and 21 medium frets offer a familiar feel that is easy to play, whether you are laying down solid root notes or exploring more intricate lines. The satin finish helps your hand glide smoothly up and down the neck.

Solid, Reliable Construction

A basswood body keeps the instrument lightweight and comfortable for long sets, while still delivering a balanced, full-bodied tone. The six-bolt neck joint adds extra stability and sustain, so you can play with confidence. Open gear tuning machines and a fixed, heavy-duty bridge help keep tuning and intonation consistent.

Vintage-Inspired Looks

The Vintage Sunburst finish paired with a black pickguard gives the Ray4 a timeless, stage-ready appearance. Black and white dot markers keep things clear and functional, while the overall aesthetic nods to classic StingRay styling that has been seen on countless stages and recordings.
