Sonor Momentum Snare Drum in California Burl (Beech, 14x6.5)

The Sonor Momentum Snare Drum in California Burl is a versatile 14 x 6.5 beech snare that blends musical warmth with crisp articulation. Built in Germany with precision shell construction and robust hardware, it is designed to deliver a focused, controllable sound that works just as well in the studio as it does on stage, all wrapped up in a striking California Burl finish.

At the heart of this drum is a 6.0 mm beech shell, made from eight plies of beech with an outer veneer that gives the California Burl its premium, boutique look. Beech offers a balanced tonal character with a slightly pronounced midrange, giving your backbeat plenty of body while still allowing ghost notes and subtle dynamics to speak clearly. The 14 x 6.5 size provides extra depth and low-end punch without sacrificing the snap and sensitivity you need for more intricate playing.

Sonor equip the Momentum snare with high quality chrome-plated hardware, including single lugs with TuneSafe, 4-sided tension rods and 2.3 mm steel hoops. This combination helps the drum stay in tune for longer, withstands regular tuning changes and delivers a solid, reliable feel under the sticks. The Dual Glide snare strainer offers smooth, precise control over snare response, so you can dial in anything from a tight, articulate crack to a fatter, more open sound with ease.

Visually, the California Burl finish sets this snare apart. The figured veneer adds a boutique touch that looks at home under stage lights or in the studio, making it a drum you will want to play and show off. Whether you are upgrading from a stock snare or adding a new voice to your collection, the Sonor Momentum California Burl offers a refined blend of tone, reliability and style.

German Beech Shell Construction

The 6.0 mm shell is crafted from eight plies of beech with an outer veneer, delivering a balanced, musical tone with a strong midrange presence. This gives your snare hits plenty of body and projection while still retaining enough sensitivity for ghost notes and subtle dynamics.

Versatile 14 x 6.5 Size

The 14 x 6.5 dimensions offer a great balance of depth and articulation. You get extra low-end weight and fullness compared to shallower snares, while still maintaining the crisp attack and responsiveness needed for a wide range of styles and tunings.

Reliable Hardware with TuneSafe

Chrome-plated single lugs with TuneSafe, 4-sided tension rods and 2.3 mm steel hoops provide stable tuning and a solid playing feel. The TuneSafe system helps prevent lugs from loosening, so your snare stays consistent throughout rehearsals, gigs and sessions.

Dual Glide Snare Strainer

The Dual Glide snare strainer offers smooth, precise adjustment of snare tension, making it easy to fine-tune your sound. From tight and cutting to fat and throaty, you can quickly find the response that suits your playing and musical setting.
