Sonor Momentum 18" Acoustic Shell Pack in California Burl

The Sonor Momentum Acoustic Shell Pack in California Burl is a compact, German-made birch kit that delivers focused punch, clear articulation and a seriously classy stage presence. With 18, 10, 12 and 14 inch shells, it is ideal for jazz, fusion, pop and smaller stages where you need full drum sound without overwhelming volume, all wrapped in a stunning matte California Burl finish.

Built from 9-ply, 6mm birch and fitted with Sonor’s advanced mounting and hardware systems, this shell pack offers impressive projection, tuning stability and sustain. Intermediate shell depths provide a balanced, musical spread of tones across the kit, while features like T.A.R. tom mounts, Sound Sustainer floor tom legs and TuneSafe lugs ensure that every drum speaks clearly and stays in tune, night after night.

German-Made Birch Shells

At the heart of the Momentum series are 6mm-thick birch shells, made from 8 plies of birch with an additional outer veneer. Birch is known for its focused low end, present mids and crisp top, giving you a punchy, controlled sound that works equally well live and in the studio. Manufactured entirely in Germany, each shell is crafted for consistency, durability and a professional response under the sticks.

Intermediate Depths for Balanced Tones

The Momentum shell pack uses intermediate shell depths to create even tonal intervals across the kit and more ergonomic positioning around the player. Sizes like 10x7.75, 12x8.5 and 14x13.75 inch provide a musical spread of pitches while keeping the drums compact and easy to place, particularly useful on tight stages or in smaller rehearsal rooms.

Resonant Mounting and Hardware

Sonor’s T.A.R. tom mounting system allows the rack toms to swing freely, maximising sustain and resonance without choking the shell. Floor tom legs are fitted with Sound Sustainer technology, derived from the flagship SQ1 series, which reduces vibration loss into the floor for a cleaner, more controlled tone. The bass drum benefits from rubberised die-cast claws and recessed tension rods for secure, rattle-free performance.

Modern Look with Classic Reliability

Chrome-plated hardware, modern single lugs with TuneSafe technology and square tension rods give the kit a contemporary, professional aesthetic while making tuning fast and reliable. The matte California Burl finish offers a boutique look that stands out under stage lights without being flashy, making this shell pack a great choice for players who want both performance and visual impact.

• 9-ply, 6mm Birch Shells - Birch delivers a warm yet focused tone with strong projection and clarity, ideal for cutting through a mix at lower volumes. The 6mm shell thickness balances resonance and attack, giving you punchy kick and articulate toms that respond well to a wide range of tunings.
• Intermediate Shell Depths - Sizes like 18x14.25, 10x7.75, 12x8.5 and 14x13.75 inch provide even tonal spacing across the kit and a compact footprint. This makes it easier to position the drums comfortably while achieving a cohesive, musical spread of pitches for groove-based playing and melodic fills.
• Advanced Mounting and Isolation - The T.A.R. tom mounting system and Sound Sustainer floor tom legs minimise contact with the shells, preserving sustain and resonance. You get open, singing toms and a more controlled, defined sound that translates beautifully in both live and recording environments.
• Premium Hardware and Finish - Chrome-plated hardware, single lugs with TuneSafe, square tension rods and rubberised die-cast bass drum claws combine for rock-solid stability and reliable tuning. The matte California Burl finish adds a high-end, boutique look that will complement any stage or studio setup.
