SE Electronics SE8 Supercardioid Condenser Factory Matched Microphones

The sE Electronics sE8 Supercardioid Matched Pair is a compact, ultra-precise small diaphragm condenser set that delivers huge, detailed sound for studio and stage. With hand-made capsules, incredibly low self-noise and class-leading dynamic range, these factory-matched microphones give you pristine stereo capture for everything from drum overheads and hi-hats to acoustic instruments, choirs and ensembles.

Each sE8 Supercardioid features a carefully tuned capsule and sophisticated backplate design for a balanced, natural sound that flatters your source without harshness. The tight supercardioid pattern offers excellent focus and rejection, helping you keep unwanted spill under control in live rooms or on busy stages. Built into a rugged all-metal chassis with switchable pads and low-cut filters, they are ready to handle delicate detail and punishing SPLs in equal measure.

Because these microphones are factory matched, you get consistent frequency response and sensitivity between the pair, making them ideal for stereo techniques like XY, ORTF and spaced pairs. This translates into stable imaging, realistic depth and a more immersive, professional-sounding recording with minimal fuss.

Whether you are tracking shimmering cymbals, articulate percussion, sparkling acoustic guitar or an entire string section, the sE8 Supercardioid Matched Pair gives you the clarity, control and reliability you need to capture every nuance with confidence.

Handcrafted Small Diaphragm Capsule

At the heart of each sE8 is a hand-made small diaphragm condenser capsule, built and tuned in-house by sE Electronics. This meticulous approach delivers a smooth, balanced frequency response with excellent transient detail, so your recordings sound open and natural rather than hyped or brittle.

Supercardioid Precision for Focused Capture

The tight supercardioid polar pattern helps you focus on the source while reducing room ambience and off-axis spill. This is especially useful on loud stages, in smaller rooms or when close-miking hi-hats, percussion and other bright instruments where control and separation are crucial.

Ultra-Low Noise with Huge Dynamic Range

Engineered to be one of the quietest small-capsule microphones in its class, the sE8 offers extremely low self-noise combined with exceptionally high SPL handling. The result is a massive usable dynamic range, letting you capture whisper-quiet passages and explosive peaks without unwanted hiss or distortion.

Integrated Pads and Low-Cut Filters

Each microphone includes switchable attenuation pads and low-cut filters, giving you flexible control at the source. Engage the pad to tame hot signals from loud drums or brass, or use the low-cut filter to reduce rumble and proximity effect, helping you achieve cleaner recordings without relying solely on post-processing.

• Factory Matched Stereo Pair - Carefully matched for sensitivity and frequency response, this pair delivers accurate stereo imaging and a cohesive soundstage, ideal for overheads, room miking, piano, choirs and ensembles.
• Hand-Made Supercardioid Capsule - The precision-crafted capsule and refined backplate design provide a balanced, musical tone with excellent transient response, capturing the true character of acoustic instruments and cymbals.
• Class-Leading Noise and SPL Handling - With ultra-low self-noise and the ability to handle very high sound pressure levels, the sE8 excels on both subtle sources and aggressive drums or percussion without compromising clarity.
• All-Metal Construction with Onboard Controls - A robust metal housing ensures durability in the studio and on tour, while integrated pads and low-cut filters give you instant control over level and low-frequency build-up at the flick of a switch.
