SE Electronics SE8 SC Supercardioid Pencil Condenser Mic - Single

The sE Electronics sE8 SC Supercardioid is a compact, high-performance pencil condenser microphone that delivers a remarkably balanced, detailed sound. Handcrafted from capsule to chassis, it is designed to excel on demanding sources like hi-hats, cymbals, percussion and acoustic instruments, whether you are in the studio or on stage. With ultra-low self-noise, huge dynamic range and impressive SPL handling, the sE8 SC captures every nuance with clarity and control.

Built around a sophisticated small-diaphragm capsule and robust all-metal body, the sE8 SC offers the precision and reliability engineers need for critical recording and live reinforcement. Its integrated pads and low-cut filters make it easy to tailor the mic to different sources and environments, while the tight supercardioid pickup pattern focuses on your sound and helps keep unwanted spill at bay.

From delicate acoustic guitar and strings to bright overheads and detailed percussion, the sE8 SC is voiced to stay natural and musical. Its balanced frequency response and carefully tuned backplate design mean you get a clear, honest representation of your source without harshness or hype, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of applications.

Whether you are upgrading your first serious studio mic or adding a precise small-diaphragm condenser to a professional locker, the sE8 SC offers premium performance in a compact, roadworthy package.

Handcrafted Small-Diaphragm Capsule

At the heart of the sE8 SC is a hand-made small-diaphragm condenser capsule, built and tuned in-house by sE. This meticulous approach delivers a smooth, balanced sound with excellent transient response, so every subtle detail of your performance is captured accurately, from the attack of a plectrum to the shimmer of cymbals.

Supercardioid Precision for Focused Capture

The tight supercardioid pickup pattern helps isolate your source and reduce bleed from surrounding instruments. This makes the sE8 SC ideal for close miking hi-hats, percussion, woodwinds or spot-miking orchestral instruments, giving you more control in busy stage setups and dense mixes.

Ultra-Low Noise, Huge Dynamic Range

The sE8 SC is engineered to be one of the quietest small-capsule microphones in its class, with extremely low self-noise and exceptionally wide dynamic range. This allows you to capture delicate passages without hiss, while still handling powerful peaks cleanly, making it equally at home on soft acoustic parts and loud drum kits.

Built-In Pads and Low-Cut Filters

Integrated attenuation pads and switchable low-cut filters give you instant flexibility at the mic. Engage the pad to handle high SPL sources without distortion, or use the low-cut filter to tame rumble and proximity effect. These onboard options help you shape the sound at the source and keep your recordings clean and controlled.

• Hand-Made Small-Diaphragm Capsule - The carefully crafted capsule delivers a balanced, natural sound with excellent transient detail, making it ideal for acoustic instruments, cymbals and overheads where clarity is crucial.
• Supercardioid Polar Pattern - The focused supercardioid pickup pattern helps reject off-axis noise and room spill, giving you tighter, more controlled recordings in live and studio environments.
• Ultra-Low Noise and High SPL Handling - With very low self-noise and the highest dynamic range and SPL handling in its class, the sE8 SC can capture everything from whisper-quiet passages to loud drums without unwanted hiss or distortion.
• Integrated Pad and Low-Cut Filter Options - Built-in attenuation pads and low-cut filters allow you to quickly adapt the mic to different sources and spaces, reducing low-frequency rumble and preventing overload at the source.
