Fender Precision Bass Guitars

The Fender Precision Bass was a complete game changer when it was released in October 1951. It was an entirely new instrument that simply didn't exist before Leo Fender invented it. The predecessor to the iconic design was an upright double bass, which was large and bulky and far from portable. It was also difficult for the upright bass to be heard over the loud horn section and drums that formed many of the dance bands of the era. Enter the Precision Bass - a solid bodied bass that could be played like a conventional guitar with convenient amplification!
