Product Description
The Pearl Reference One 14 x 5 Snare Drum in Brooklyn Burst is a power-focused, studio-ready snare designed for drummers who demand huge projection without sacrificing nuance. Its massive 20 ply hybrid Maple and Birch shell, die cast hoops and premium snare system combine to deliver explosive crack, tight low-end punch and ultra-clear articulation in any mix.
Engineered as a centrepiece for modern kits, this snare is primed for both live and recording environments. The thick shell and precise 45 degree bearing edges give you fast response and immediate attack, while the carefully chosen hardware keeps tuning stable and the snare response consistent at any dynamic level. Whether you are laying down tight backbeats or intricate ghost notes, the Reference One 14 x 5 responds with authority and control.
20 Ply Maple and Birch Hybrid Shell
At the heart of this snare is a staggering 20 ply, 25 mm shell made from 14 plies of Maple on the outside and 6 plies of Birch on the inside. This combination delivers the warmth and body of Maple, reinforced by the focused attack and brightness of Birch. The result is a snare that cuts through dense guitars and keys with ease, while still retaining enough warmth to sit naturally in the mix.
Powerful 45 Degree Bearing Edges
Precision cut 45 degree bearing edges maximise head to shell contact for a fast, immediate response. This edge profile enhances attack and projection, giving rimshots a commanding crack and making every stroke feel crisp and controlled. It also helps the drum tune easily across a wide range, from tight and high for funk and pop to lower, fatter rock tunings.
MasterCast Die Cast Hoops and STL Lugs
Pearl MasterCast die cast hoops provide increased volume, focus and tuning stability by exerting even tension across the head and minimising unwanted overtones. Paired with STL single swivel lugs, the hardware is configured to complement the shell’s voice, offering smooth, precise tuning and a solid, reliable feel under the sticks.
SR1000 Glide Lock Strainer and Ultra Sound Wires
The patented SR1000 Glide Lock strainer features a locking switch that keeps your chosen snare tension firmly in place, preventing accidental slippage mid performance. Matched with SN 1420I Ultra Sound I type snare wires, it delivers heightened sensitivity, crisp sizzle and focused response at all dynamics, from whisper quiet ghost notes to full power backbeats.
Features
- 20 Ply Maple and Birch Shell - A 25 mm shell made from 14 plies of Maple and 6 plies of Birch delivers immense projection, punch and clarity. The Maple provides warmth and body, while the inner Birch plies add definition and cut, ensuring your snare is heard clearly in any live or studio mix.
- 45 Degree Bearing Edges - Precision 45 degree bearing edges enhance attack and responsiveness, making the drum quick to speak and easy to tune. This gives you a wide tonal range and a consistent feel, ideal for drummers who need both power and finesse.
- MasterCast Die Cast Hoops - Heavy duty die cast hoops increase volume and focus while controlling unwanted overtones. They also improve tuning stability, so your snare stays dialled in for longer sessions and demanding live sets.
- SR1000 Glide Lock Strainer with Ultra Sound Wires - The locking Glide Lock mechanism keeps your snare tension secure, while SN 1420I Ultra Sound I type wires provide exceptional sensitivity and crisp, articulate snare response. This combination ensures reliable performance and a refined, professional snare sound.
