Product Description
The Patrick James Eggle 96 Drop-top Electric Guitar in Purple Burst is an Andertons-exclusive take on Eggle’s acclaimed S-style design. Built around a roasted swamp ash body with a stunning 4A quilted maple drop-top, roasted maple neck and a versatile HSS pickup layout, it delivers boutique feel, inspiring tone and a truly standout aesthetic. From shimmering single-coil chime to muscular humbucker punch, this 96 Drop-top is made for players who want a responsive, characterful instrument that looks as good as it sounds.
Every element of this guitar has been chosen to maximise resonance, playability and real-world versatility. The roasted tonewoods provide stability and a lively acoustic response, while the soft V neck profile, 12 inch radius and medium tall Jescar frets create a fast, comfortable playing surface that suits everything from bluesy bends to precise modern lead work. Finished in nitrocellulose for a naturally breathing feel and topped with a vivid Purple Burst, this Andertons-exclusive 96 Drop-top is a boutique workhorse with serious stage presence.
Exclusive Andertons Drop-top Design
This 96 Drop-top has been commissioned specifically for Andertons Music Co, giving you a version of Patrick James Eggle’s celebrated double-cut that you will not find anywhere else. The drop-top construction not only showcases the quilted maple but also subtly reshapes the body contours for a refined, comfortable feel against the body. If you are looking for a boutique S-style with its own identity and a touch of exclusivity, this model delivers exactly that.
Premium Roasted Tonewoods
A roasted swamp ash body paired with a roasted maple neck offers a lively, resonant platform with enhanced stability. Roasting reduces moisture content and internal stresses in the wood, helping the guitar stay more consistent across changing climates while also increasing its harmonic richness. The rosewood fretboard adds a smooth, warm top end, giving you a balanced, musical response whether you are playing clean, edge-of-breakup or fully driven tones.
Player-focused Neck and Fretwork
The soft V neck profile feels substantial without being bulky, offering a comfortable anchor for your thumb and excellent control for bends and vibrato. Combined with a 12 inch fretboard radius and medium tall Jescar #55090 frets, you get an effortlessly modern playing feel with low, clean action and plenty of room for expressive string work. Chords remain comfortable across the neck, while leads feel fast and precise, making this a true all-rounder for serious players.
Versatile HSS Pickup Configuration
With single coils in the neck and middle positions and a direct-mounted open-coil humbucker at the bridge, this 96 Drop-top is ready for almost any style. The single coils provide clarity, snap and articulation for cleans and edge-of-breakup tones, while the bridge humbucker delivers the extra output and midrange focus needed for rock and higher-gain sounds. The HSS layout means you can cover everything from glassy neck lines to punchy rhythm work and searing leads.
Vintage-inspired Hardware with Modern Reliability
A vintage-style tremolo and vintage tuners keep the aesthetic classic while working in harmony with the roasted neck and quality fretwork for stable tuning and a responsive feel. The bright nickel hardware complements the Purple Burst and natural back finishes, tying the whole instrument together visually. Subtle wear on the nitro-finished neck gives it a played-in feel from day one, encouraging you to spend more time playing and less time fighting the instrument.
