Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay Bass in Translucent Blue

The Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay Bass in Translucent Blue distils the iconic StingRay sound and feel into a more compact, ultra-playable package. With its 30 inch scale length, roasted maple neck and powerful passive neodymium humbucker, it delivers that familiar punchy voice with a smoother, more relaxed playing experience that suits a huge range of players and styles.

Whether you are a guitarist moving to bass, a younger player, or simply prefer a shorter reach and closer fret spacing, this USA-made Short Scale StingRay offers premium build quality, versatile tones and a striking stage presence in one inspiring instrument.

Compact, Comfortable Short Scale Design

The 30 inch scale length brings the frets closer together and reduces overall string tension, making lines, stretches and fast runs feel noticeably easier under the fingers. It is ideal if you want a more compact instrument without sacrificing full-bodied tone, and particularly suits players with smaller hands or those who prefer a more relaxed left-hand reach for long gigs and sessions.

Classic StingRay Punch with Passive Versatility

At the heart of this bass is a specially designed passive StingRay humbucker loaded with high-output neodymium magnets. It delivers a big, warm and rounded voice with the familiar StingRay authority, while the passive circuitry keeps the signal path direct and immediate. A simple Volume control and 3-way rotary selector give you quick access to parallel, true single-coil and series modes, covering everything from tight, articulate funk to thick rock tones without the need for an onboard preamp.

Premium Roasted Maple Neck and Maple Fingerboard

The roasted maple neck offers enhanced stability and a premium feel, resisting environmental changes while staying smooth and fast in the hand. Finished with Music Man’s gunstock oil and hand-rubbed wax blend, it has a natural, broken-in sensation from day one. The matching maple fingerboard with 11 inch radius and 22 high-profile, wide stainless steel frets provides a slick, responsive playing surface that stands up to years of heavy use.

Solid Ash Body and Striking Translucent Blue Finish

A solid ash body gives this Short Scale StingRay the punch, presence and clarity that have defined the StingRay sound for decades. The high gloss polyester finish in Translucent Blue lets the character of the ash subtly show through, creating a look that is both modern and classic. Paired with chrome hardware and a 3-ply white pearloid pickguard, it is a bass that looks as good as it sounds.

Road-Ready Hardware and Thoughtful Details

The vintage Music Man top-loaded bridge with chrome-plated steel plate and nickel-plated steel saddles provides a rock-solid anchor point for tuning stability and reliable intonation. Custom lightweight tuning machines with tapered string posts and ergonomic clover keys help keep the headstock weight down for improved balance on the strap. Compensated melamine nut, precise 5-bolt neck joint and high-quality factory Ernie Ball Short Scale Slinky strings round out a specification designed for serious performance.

• 30 Inch Short Scale for Effortless Playability - The reduced scale length brings the frets closer together and lowers string tension, making it easier to reach intervals, execute stretches and play for longer with less fatigue. It is particularly welcoming for guitarists transitioning to bass and players who prefer a more compact feel.
• Passive Neodymium StingRay Humbucker with 3-Way Rotary Selector - A high-output neodymium humbucker delivers a bold, warm and rounded tone, while the passive electronics keep your sound direct and responsive. The 3-way rotary switch lets you choose between parallel, true single-coil and series modes, giving you three distinct voices from one pickup.
• Roasted Maple Neck and Maple Fingerboard - The roasted maple neck offers excellent stability and a premium, smooth feel, enhanced by the gunstock oil and hand-rubbed wax finish. The maple fingerboard with stainless steel frets provides a bright, articulate response and long-lasting durability, ideal for intensive gigging and recording.
• Solid Ash Body with Translucent Blue High Gloss Finish - A solid ash body delivers the classic StingRay punch and presence, while the Translucent Blue high gloss polyester finish showcases the wood beneath for a distinctive visual appeal. Combined with chrome hardware and a white pearloid pickguard, it creates a bass that stands out on any stage.
