Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay Bass in Ghostwood

The Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay Bass in Ghostwood distils everything players love about the classic StingRay into a more compact, effortless playing experience. With its 30" scale, solid ash body and powerful passive neodymium humbucker, it delivers the iconic punch, clarity and authority of a full-size StingRay, but with a slinkier feel that is ideal for smaller hands, fast lines and long gigs.

Combining a roasted maple neck and maple fingerboard with stainless steel frets and lightweight hardware, this USA-made short-scale bass feels fast, stable and reassuringly premium. A 3-way rotary selector unlocks parallel, true single-coil and series modes from the single bridge humbucker, giving you a wide range of usable tones from one pickup, from tight funk to thick rock and everything in between.

Short Scale StingRay Feel

The 30" short scale length reduces the distance between frets, making stretches, fast runs and complex chord shapes noticeably easier under the fingers. This more compact format is perfect if you prefer a slinkier feel, have smaller hands, or simply want a bass that feels immediately comfortable when you pick it up, while still retaining the familiar StingRay ergonomics and attitude.

Classic Ash Body Punch

A solid ash body provides the tonal backbone that has helped define the StingRay sound for decades. Ash offers a focused low end, clear mids and a crisp top that lets your notes cut through a mix with authority. Whether you are playing fingerstyle, with a pick or slapping, the Short Scale StingRay responds with a lively, articulate character that sits perfectly in band contexts.

Roasted Maple Neck and Maple Fingerboard

The roasted maple neck combines a smooth, fast feel with impressive stability, helping it stay consistent across changing environments. Paired with a maple fingerboard, you get a snappy, responsive playing surface that enhances note definition and attack, ideal for precise, rhythmically tight bass lines.

Versatile Passive Neodymium Humbucker

At the heart of this bass is a specially designed passive StingRay humbucker loaded with higher-output neodymium magnets. This pickup delivers a big, warm and rounded tone with plenty of headroom and clarity, while the passive circuitry keeps your signal path simple and direct. The 3-way rotary selector offers parallel, true single-coil and series modes, giving you everything from bright, scooped funk tones to thick, muscular rock sounds without needing multiple pickups or complex controls.

• 30" Short Scale Playability - The reduced scale length brings the frets closer together, making stretches easier and reducing left-hand fatigue. It is ideal for players moving from guitar, those with smaller hands, or anyone who wants a more relaxed, agile playing feel without sacrificing full bass tone.
• Passive Neodymium StingRay Humbucker - The high-output neodymium humbucker delivers a powerful, rounded low end with clear highs and plenty of punch. Its passive design keeps your tone open and dynamic, responding naturally to your touch and working seamlessly with pedals and different amps.
• 3-Way Rotary Pickup Selector - Switch between parallel, true single-coil and series modes from a single bridge pickup for impressive tonal flexibility. From tight, articulate slap sounds to thick, driving rock tones, you can cover a wide range of styles without changing bass or adjusting complex controls.
• Premium Neck, Frets and Hardware - The roasted maple neck, maple fingerboard and 22 stainless steel frets offer a smooth, durable playing surface that will stand up to years of use. The Modern Classic bridge and lightweight Music Man tuning machines provide a solid, reliable feel while helping the bass remain comfortable on the shoulder.
