Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay Bass in Galactic Pearl

The Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay Bass in Galactic Pearl takes the iconic StingRay sound and feel and distils it into a compact, ultra-playable 30 inch package. With a solid ash body, roasted maple neck and a powerful passive neodymium humbucker, it delivers huge, punchy tones with effortless comfort, all wrapped up in a striking metallic finish with matching headstock.

Designed for players who want classic StingRay character in a more manageable format, this short scale model offers a reduced fret distance that feels instantly familiar to guitarists, younger players or anyone who prefers a more relaxed left-hand stretch. At the same time, its clever passive electronics and three-way rotary selector unlock a wide range of usable bass voices, from tight, articulate funk to thick, driving rock.

Premium materials and hardware ensure the playing experience is every bit as refined as its full-scale siblings. The roasted maple neck with gunstock oil and hand-rubbed wax finish feels fast and broken-in straight out of the case, while the ebony fingerboard and stainless steel frets provide a smooth, durable surface that invites both laid-back grooves and more technical lines. Lightweight custom tuners and a vintage-style top-loaded bridge keep things stable and responsive under the fingers.

Visually, the Galactic Pearl finish gives this bass a modern, stage-ready presence, complemented by a matching headstock and 3-ply white pearloid pickguard. It is a compact, professional-grade instrument that looks as bold as it sounds, equally at home in the studio, rehearsal room or under bright stage lights.

Short Scale Comfort

The 30 inch scale length brings the frets closer together, reducing stretches and making complex lines or extended sessions far less tiring. It is ideal if you are moving over from guitar, have smaller hands, or simply prefer a more compact feel without sacrificing a full, authoritative bass tone.

Classic StingRay Punch, Passive Simplicity

A specially designed passive StingRay humbucker with high-output neodymium magnets delivers the familiar StingRay punch, growl and presence, but with a straightforward passive layout. The simple Volume control and three-way rotary selector keep you focused on playing, with no batteries or complex preamp settings to worry about.

Versatile Three-Way Voicing

The rotary pickup selector offers parallel, true single-coil and series modes, effectively giving you three distinct bass voices from one pickup. Switch from tight, articulate tones to classic single-coil snap or thick, powerful series sounds, covering everything from funk and pop to rock and indie with ease.

Premium Feel and Finish

The roasted maple neck with a comfortable C profile, ebony fingerboard and high-profile, wide stainless steel frets combine for a fast, smooth playing experience that will stand up to years of use. The Galactic Pearl finish, matching headstock and white pearloid pickguard add a premium, eye-catching aesthetic that looks impressive on any stage.

• 30 Inch Short Scale Neck - The reduced scale length brings the frets closer together for an easier, more relaxed playing feel. This makes fast runs, wide intervals and extended sets more comfortable, particularly for players with smaller hands or those transitioning from guitar.
• Passive Neodymium StingRay Humbucker - The high-output neodymium pickup delivers a warm, big and rounded bass tone with the signature StingRay punch and clarity. Its passive design gives you a direct, immediate response that sits confidently in any mix.
• Three-Way Rotary Pickup Selector - Switch between parallel, true single-coil and series modes from a single control, effectively accessing three distinct tonal characters. This versatility lets you adapt quickly to different songs and styles without changing basses or adjusting complex EQ settings.
• Premium Neck, Hardware and Finish - A roasted maple neck with gunstock oil and wax finish, ebony fingerboard, stainless steel frets, lightweight custom tuners and a vintage Music Man bridge provide a professional feel and rock-solid tuning stability. The Galactic Pearl finish with matching headstock and white pearloid pickguard completes a distinctive, high-end look.
