Music Man Session StingRay 5 Bass Guitar in Tobacco Burst

The Music Man Session StingRay 5 in Tobacco Burst delivers the unmistakable StingRay punch with a refined, modern feel. Marrying a powerful Alnico 5 humbucker with a flexible 3-band active preamp, this five-string workhorse is built for players who need tight, authoritative low end, effortless playability and rock-solid tuning stability in one premium package.

Inspired by the iconic StingRay basses of the 1990s and 2000s, the Session StingRay 5 captures that familiar growl and presence while adding contemporary enhancements for today’s stage and studio demands. From the roasted maple neck with its silky oil-and-wax finish to the compensated nut and dual-action truss rod, every detail is designed to keep you playing comfortably and confidently, night after night.

With its extended low-frequency range, long-scale feel and versatile electronics, this is a bass that can move seamlessly between genres, handling fingerstyle, slap and pick playing with ease. Whether you are locking in with a drummer on a tight groove or carving out melodic lines higher up the neck, the Session StingRay 5 gives you the clarity, punch and control to sit perfectly in any mix.

Classic StingRay Character, Modern Refinement

The Session StingRay 5 takes the legendary StingRay blueprint and updates it with carefully considered modern touches. The body construction, pickup voicing and preamp design all work together to deliver that familiar StingRay attack and midrange presence, while offering smoother playability and more precise tonal control for contemporary players.

Roasted Maple Neck for Superior Feel

A roasted maple neck with an oil-and-wax finish provides a fast, smooth playing surface that feels broken-in from day one. The roasting process enhances stability and resonance, while the 11 inch fingerboard radius and 22 frets offer a comfortable platform for everything from low-end grooves to expressive runs higher up the neck.

Powerful Alnico Humbucker with 3-Band Active Preamp

The Music Man Session Alnico 5 humbucker delivers the signature StingRay punch, growl and articulation, while the active 3-band preamp lets you sculpt your sound with dedicated bass, middle and treble controls. From tight, scooped slap tones to warm, rounded fingerstyle sounds or aggressive rock grind, the electronics give you the flexibility to adapt to any musical situation.

Five-String Versatility and Rock-Solid Hardware

With its full 34 inch scale and extended low B, the Session StingRay 5 is ideal for modern styles that demand extra low-end reach. A six-bolt neck attachment, compensated nut, dual-action truss rod and Music Man Schaller open-gear tuners work together to provide reliable tuning stability, accurate intonation and a reassuringly solid feel under the fingers.
