Music Man Session StingRay 5 Bass Guitar in British Racing Green

The Music Man Session StingRay 5 in British Racing Green takes the iconic StingRay blueprint and refines it for the modern player. With a powerful Alnico 5 humbucker, flexible active electronics and a slick roasted maple neck, it delivers that unmistakable StingRay punch with enhanced comfort, control and reliability for today’s demanding stages and studios.

Inspired by classic 1990s and 2000s StingRay basses, the Session series focuses on feel and function. The familiar double cut body, long 34 inch scale and compensated nut give you a rock-solid platform, while the 3-band active preamp and three-way selector let you shape everything from tight, percussive slap tones to thick, singing fingerstyle lines. Add in the extended low B string and you have a versatile five-string that covers modern pop, rock, fusion and beyond with ease.

At the heart of the instrument is a carefully voiced Music Man Session Alnico 5 humbucker feeding a dedicated 3-band preamp. This pairing captures the classic StingRay growl and articulation, but with extra tonal flexibility on tap via the onboard EQ and switching. Whether you are sitting in the pocket, cutting through a dense mix or exploring more melodic territory higher up the neck, the Session StingRay 5 stays clear, responsive and musical.

A roasted maple neck with an oil and wax finish offers a fast, broken-in feel straight out of the gig bag. The 11 inch radius fingerboard and 22 frets provide a comfortable, consistent playing surface for both traditional and contemporary techniques, while the six-bolt neck joint and dual-action truss rod ensure long-term stability. Finished in a striking British Racing Green, this StingRay 5 looks as confident as it sounds.

Modern Take on a Classic StingRay Voice

The Music Man Session Alnico 5 humbucker is voiced to deliver the signature StingRay character with a modern edge. Expect tight lows, punchy mids and crisp highs that stay defined even with aggressive playing. It is ideal for cutting through live mixes and dense studio arrangements without sacrificing warmth or musicality.

Powerful 3-Band Active Preamp

The dedicated 3-band active preamp gives you precise control over bass, middle and treble, letting you tailor your sound to any genre or venue. From deep, dub-like lows to mid-forward rock tones and bright, snappy slap sounds, the onboard EQ means you can fine-tune your tone directly from the bass without relying solely on your amp.

Comfortable Roasted Maple Neck

The roasted maple neck and fingerboard (finish dependent) with an oil and wax finish feel smooth and fast under the fingers. The 11 inch radius and 22 frets offer a familiar, comfortable playing experience for both fingerstyle and pick players, while the dual-action truss rod and six-bolt attachment provide a stable, reliable platform for consistent performance.

Extended Low-End Range

With its five-string configuration and full 34 inch scale length, the Session StingRay 5 extends your range down to a low B without compromising clarity or tension. This makes it an excellent choice for modern styles that demand powerful, articulate low-end, from contemporary worship and pop to progressive rock and metal.
