MEINL Percussion Solid Pickup Kalimba - American Walnut

The Meinl Percussion Solid Pickup Kalimba in American Walnut is a beautifully crafted thumb piano that is as relaxing to play as it is inspiring to listen to. Pre tuned to a soothing C major scale, it delivers gentle, melodic tones that always work together, whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned musician. With its integrated pickup system, multiple outputs and onboard effects controls, this kalimba is just as comfortable on stage or in the studio as it is on the sofa at home.

Seventeen chrome plated steel tines sit on a resonant American walnut body, producing a warm, organic sound that is perfect for meditation, songwriting, sound healing or simply unwinding at the end of the day. Every note is clearly engraved on the keys to help you learn patterns quickly and stay oriented while you play. Plug into an amp, PA, interface or headphones, shape your sound with the built in controls, and enjoy a compact instrument that makes it easy to create music and clear your mind.

Relaxing, Musical and Easy to Play

The PKA17AW is tuned to a C major scale with 17 notes laid out in an intuitive pattern, so any combination of notes will sound musical. This makes it ideal for beginners who want instant, stress free results, as well as more experienced players looking for a portable, meditative instrument. The soft, bell like tone encourages slow, expressive playing and is perfect for mindfulness, yoga sessions or ambient soundscapes.

Warm American Walnut Body

Crafted from American walnut, the body of this kalimba offers a naturally warm and rounded tone that complements the bright chime of the steel tines. The central sound hole adds resonance and projection, giving your melodies more depth and presence. The smooth wooden surface also feels comfortable in the hands, inviting longer playing sessions without fatigue.

Integrated Pickup and Flexible Connectivity

This model features a built in pickup and a high quality quarter inch output jack, so you can easily connect to amplifiers, PA systems or audio interfaces. In addition, dedicated 3.5 mm Aux/Rec and headphone outputs give you more options for practice, performance and recording. Whether you are playing to a room, layering tracks in a DAW or rehearsing quietly with headphones, the PKA17AW fits seamlessly into your setup.

Onboard Effects Controls

With dedicated controls for volume, reverb, chorus and delay, you can tailor your sound directly from the instrument. Add a touch of ambience for spacious, meditative textures, introduce chorus for a wider, shimmering tone, or bring in delay for rhythmic echoes and looping style patterns. These built in options let you explore a wide range of sonic colours without needing extra pedals or processors.

Ready to Play and Maintain

The PKA17AW comes pre tuned and includes a travel case, tuning hammer and microfibre cleaning cloth. The tuning hammer allows you to keep the instrument perfectly in tune or experiment with alternative scales if you wish, while the cloth helps you keep the tines and body clean. The included case makes it easy to take your kalimba to rehearsals, sessions or relaxing outdoor spaces.

• Built in Pickup with Multiple Outputs - The integrated pickup and 6.3 mm jack let you plug straight into amps or interfaces, while the 3.5 mm Aux/Rec and headphone outputs provide extra flexibility for recording and silent practice.
