Product Description
The Lollar Novel sB Pickup Set in Matte Black / Gold delivers the punch and sustain of a refined vintage humbucker with the clarity and articulation of a blade-style single coil. Designed as a direct drop-in for standard humbucker routes, this neck and bridge set gives you a thicker, more vocal tone while keeping every note defined and responsive under the fingers.
Built by effectively taking one side of Lollar’s acclaimed dB humbucker and reworking it into a compact single-coil format, the Novel sB offers a powerful lower midrange, smooth highs and a blooming attack that feels incredibly touch sensitive. Whether you are chasing expressive cleans, dynamic edge-of-breakup tones or singing lead lines, these pickups provide a versatile, modern voice with a distinctly musical, vintage-inspired character.
Blade-Style Single Coil with Humbucker Attitude
The Novel sB takes the coil architecture of one side of Lollar’s dB humbucker and fits it into a traditional humbucker footprint. This gives you the immediacy and focus of a blade single coil with the thicker, more authoritative response you would expect from a classic humbucker or P-90. The result is a tone that feels familiar under the hands but opens up new shades of clarity and detail.
Thicker Tone with Exceptional Clarity
Voiced to be fuller than many conventional single coils, the Novel sB still retains outstanding note separation and definition. Chords stay articulate even with gain, while single notes have a strong, singing fundamental that cuts through a mix without sounding harsh. If you want more body and sustain without sacrificing the sparkle and precision of a single coil, this set is designed to sit right in that sweet spot.
Expressive Sustain and Bloom
One of the standout characteristics of the Novel sB is the way notes develop after the initial pick attack. There is a noticeable bloom and sustain that feels almost vocal, giving bends, vibrato and held chords a three-dimensional quality. This makes the set particularly rewarding for expressive players who rely on dynamics and touch to shape their sound.
Matched Neck and Bridge Set
The Novel sB is offered as a dedicated two-piece set, with individual neck and bridge pickups carefully balanced for output and tonal character. The neck pickup delivers warmth and clarity without getting muddy, while the bridge pickup offers more bite and drive for riffs and leads. Together, they provide a cohesive, musical spread across all positions, ready to drop straight into any guitar routed for humbuckers.
Features
- Blade-Style Single-Coil Design - The blade pole piece ensures even string response across the entire fretboard, no matter how hard you bend. This gives you consistent output and intonation-friendly clarity, ideal for modern playing styles and alternate tunings.
- Thick, Vocal Tonality - Voiced with a strong lower midrange and smooth top end, the Novel sB set delivers a tone reminiscent of a refined vintage humbucker or P-90. You get added body and presence that helps your guitar sit confidently in a band mix while still sounding open and articulate.
- Enhanced Sustain and Note Bloom - The pickups are engineered to emphasise sustain and the natural bloom of each note after the initial attack. This makes them particularly responsive to touch, rewarding expressive players with a more fluid, singing feel under the fingers.
- Drop-In Humbucker Replacement Set - Designed to fit standard humbucker routes, the Novel sB set installs without modification in most guitars that already take humbuckers. With dedicated neck and bridge models, you get a balanced, ready-made upgrade path that transforms your instrument’s voice while keeping the existing hardware layout.
